I don't think Aaron Shock (R-IL) is going to survive the endless scandal news

You must have missed it.

When did the discussion shift focus? Or is that blur you ducking and weaving?

Was Obama’s statement anti-gay, or not? It was almost, word for word, the same as the Congressman’s statement.

In 2008.
In 2012.

So he was against it, before he was for it?

Life is change. How it differs from the rocks.

What’s that got to do with the topic of the thread?

Maybe Schock will change his mind.

It didn’t work out so well for John Kerry, did it?

From here.

Yes, but what about Hillary? And Marcus Pinkerton from Bakersfield, California?

Last time I saw that many Dodges, it was a car dealership.

Here, rub some of this on it.

I love it when reactionary right-wingers like yourself try to play a “gotcha” by presenting a liberal politician expressing anti-gay sentiment. Like we’re suddenly going to say, “Well, it’s not bigotry when someone who supports food stamps says it!”

Barrack Obama has been a homophobe for most of his political career, or at least has been willing to play the role of one for political gain, which works out to about the same thing in my book. The Democratic party as a whole has never been an ally to the gay rights movement. They have, at best, been less of an impediment than the Republicans. This in no way excuses the ingrained bigotry of the Republican party against homosexuals, and no amount of half-assed tu quoques on your part will change that.

I’m going to offer an opinion, which is to say, can’t prove diddly squat. But I think they were caught off guard by how quickly things changed. At what point, perzackly, did support for gay equality stop being political suicide? I don’t know either, but it wasn’t that long ago…

I think the reactionaries inadvertently helped. Back when gay marriage first started to be noticed, they ran to the internet to show us the shock and horror of gay marriages. Hey, that middle aged woman looks kinda like Aunt Esther, nothing scary about Aunt Esther. And that guy, looks a lot like Fred from Accounting. Wait, that is Fred from Accounting!..

Did you vote for him, twice?

Of course I did. What’s my alternative? The Republicans?

I’d be incredibly surprised if you can find pro-LBGTQ legislation that wasn’t put forth by a Democrat. While a Dem put forth DADT in hopes that homosexuals could serve and wouldn’t be asked about their sexual preference (it didn’t work out that way), another Dem opened up the military for gays & lesbians to serve openly. Pres Obama has done LOADS more for LBGTQ people than any other president.

Nope. He has never to the best of my knowledge (if you’ve got a cite to the contrary, by all means post it) called for the repeal of hate crime laws in general, just specifically targeted Teh Gayz as outsiders.
