I don't think Aaron Shock (R-IL) is going to survive the endless scandal news

The link I posted listed several bills that were categorized as being marriage related in some way. it should be no problem to determine which of those bills were related to same-sex marriage and which weren’t.

Stop pretending you don’t understand such things and mischaracterizing my posts based on that “misunderstanding”.
You’re the only one who fooled by that act.

Was President Clinton “gay-bashing” when he signed DOMA? Were Hillary Clinton and President Obama “gay-bashing” when they supported traditional marriage in the 2008 campaign?

Interesting choice of phrase with “traditional marriage”.

The answer to your question of course is that President Clinton very clearly was pandering to homophobia when he signed DOMA into law in the 1990s and Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama were also clearly pandering to homophobia in 2008.

All three have reversed their decisions and are no longer pandering to homophobia.

Schock of course, unless I’m wrong, has not reversed positions on hate crimes legislation, DOMA, and “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell”, so I’m not sure your point in bringing them up.

Now, perhaps you can shed light on your own particular beliefs regarding “traditional marriage” as you call it.

Do you believe that gay marriage should be legal and recognized in the US?

If not, why not?

Thanks in advance.

Yet, I have no doubt that the majority of the posters on this board voted for Clinton twice, voted for either Hillary or Obama in the primary, and voted for Obama twice.

Suddenly, it’s an unforgivable “sin” that Congressman Schock voted for the NDAA in 2012.

It stinks of a double standard.

When given a choice between a mildly homophobic candidate and an extremely homophobic candidate we chose the lesser of two evils.

Shock wasn’t just asked his opinion on gay marriage and said he didn’t support in he chose to be a vocal oponent and campaigned against it. He has actively fundraising to support extreme oponents of gay marriage. His position is in no way comparable to any of the Democratic candidates your bringing up.

He brought thousands of people’s rights into the policall arena. He decided people’s sexuality was his business. He doesn’t get the 'none of your business pass, for himself.

claim double standards all you want. His positions were wrong and he should suffer consiquences for them.

Wrong. It hasn’t been interesting for years. Today it’s just sad.

To the surprise of no one, Schock comes out as gay, apologizes for past anti-gay votes (but without using the word “apologize”.

Would like to note his dedication for blaming his vote on… Obama. Because of course it’s Obama’s fault.

Sad that his family won’t accept him.

It’s what Jesus would have wanted, though.

Fuck that guy.

No, wait, amend that.

Nobody fuck that guy.

That seems a bit out-of-line for Politics & Elections.

This is as much of a shock (pun intended) as this was. SFW.
