I dont understand religion...

How about some of our less-than-finest minds?

In the greatest philosophical sense…no. There is no need for a “why.” Things happen, and it may very well have zero purpose whatever.

In the smaller sense, things happen because other things happened previously. The jam jar broke because I dropped it; I dropped it because the cat startled me; etc. In the practical world of engineering, we need our little “why” moment by moment.

But, no matter how much some people desire one, we don’t have an overarching “why” that explains life, the universe, and everything. (“42” is as good an answer as “God wills it.”)

The “hows” do seem to answer themselves, with enough time.
The “whys” are probably the source of a lot of religious belief.

Heck, tell me why I exist right “now” instead of all the other “nows” and I will… eh never mind, I gotta think on it some more myself.

Infinity just bugs me…:smack:

Infinity? Heck, I have trouble just dealing with “thousands.”
