It seems to have worked.
It’s like those Chilean miners. Look at all the attention they’re getting. I think we should be asking what they’re up to. It seems pretty convenient to me that they all just happened to be inside that mine when it collapsed.
I’m with you: she doesn’t give the appearance of someone seeking fortune and glory. But then her motive for revealing the information to what is essentially a tabloid journalist becomes unclear. If her claims are true, perhaps she wanted to inform Favre’s wife that her husband is a cheating slime without revealing it was her that exposed him. But she had to know that Favre would know how the story leaked (of course she probably relied on his silence). Now that she has nothing to hide, I wish she would reveal her motives. Perhaps it was a simple “oops, I shouldn’t have done that” moment.
I think it’s what I said in an earlier post. She just saw the incident as an interesting piece of gossip about a celebrity she could share with her friends. She apparently had no interest in making it a public issue. But one of her social cricle happened to be a reporter and when he heard it he told her he planned on publishing it. You can see in the email she sent him she was very upset about that. It wasn’t until he told her he was going to go ahead and publish it with or without her corroboration that she agreed to corroborate it - at that point she realized her only options were to be the woman who has sexually harassed by Brett Favre or to be the woman who told people she was sexually harassed by Brett Favre but didn’t produce any proof of it.
Here incidentally what Sterger told the reporter:
How exactly are these the words of a supposed attention whore?
And his response back to her:
Bingo! That settles the issue for me.
Sterger has not confirmed that she said any of that shit, and has still made no complaint to the NFL or the Jets. There’s nothing here, and nothing is going to happen.
Well, Favre admitted to making phone calls to her (after leaving the Jets), so that’s something. But yeah, it won’t amount to anything.
What is amazing is how much Sterger looks like a younger version of Deanna.
And I agree with DtC, nothing will come of it from the NFL offices.
That’s one thing I keep considering. I mean, Favre could pretty much get laid by any number of hot women, right? Why does he sound so desperate on those voicemails?
Mrs Favre cannot be pleased, that’s for sure.
My guess? He could get laid any time any place in Green Bay. Probably if he hit on a married woman, she’d invite her husband to record the blessed event, and they’d show it every year at Christmas. But who is going to be impressed with an ugly 40-year-old slow wit in New York? Not women as hot as Jenny Sterger, who works with football players and doesn’t even have stars in her eyes. He went to the big city and embarrassed himself in more ways than one.
And don’t worry, Dio, you’re completely correct. The NFL won’t do shit, and Favre will be free to lead the Minnesota Vikings to another season of bitter disappointment, lost opportunities, and a record number of interceptions. Exactly as planned. So calm down and let the rest of us discuss what a creepy douchebag your new hero is.
There is no proof that he did anything creepy. The voicemails (which are all he’s admitted to) are pretty innocuous. Sterger has not accused him of anything at all.
Are you saying that Sterger didn’t accuse Favre of sending her pictures of his penis? If so, how did this whole story get started? Obviously, somebody said Favre sent the pictures. If it wasn’t Sterger, who do you think it was?
Not publicly, no, and maybe not at all.
Deadspin says they got the pics from a third party, not Sterger, and they they acknowledge the pics might not be Favre (Favre himself has admitted only to the voicemails). Sterger has said nothing publicly at all, and has refused to talk to NFL investigators.
I wouldn’t call them innocuous. Favre is a married man, and he was clearly trying to cheat on his wife. That, in an of itself, it not enough to justify league discipline, but if there’s more to it, things can get ugly.
So the theory you’re offering is that maybe somebody took some random pictures of a guy’s penis. Published it on a public website for sports gossip. Made up a story that this was Brett Favre’s penis. Made up another story that Jenn Sterger gave them the photo and told them all this was true, when in fact she had never said anything like this. Forged emails from Sterger to back up this fabrication. And Sterger, for some reason, is not issuing any public denunciation of all this and telling people her name is being used falsely.
That theory seems a little implausible to me.
I would think DtC would wannt some disciplinary action given Favre’s piss-poor QB rating (behind Sam Bradford, Alex Smith, Oakland QBs, Shaun Hill, Seneca Wallace…).
BTW, I’ve heard several reports that Favre may not start this week anyway. Two fractures in his left ankle, neither needs surgery, but he’s wearing a boot around the Vikings facilities. The coach has been vague, but has made noises about protecting Favre from himself…
First of all, whether an action is a crime doesn’t depend on it being prosecuted.
Second, Favre haters? Get your head out of your ass. Nobody cares about Brett Favre. That perspective is exactly what’s wrong about this picture. Yeah, I’m exactly the kind of Favre hater who doesn’t like it when he sends a bunch of pictures of his cock to somebody who works for the team he has in his thrall, and who doesn’t want to have anything to do with him.
The fact that nothing is going to happen is the problem we’re talking about. Nothing is going to happen because if Sterger, who nobody has reason one to suspect did anything untoward in any of this, had personally made a big deal out of it, she knew she’d have to deal with the sexist victim blaming bullshit the like of which is going on in this thread. Nothing’s going to happen because it isn’t worth it to the victim to go through the process of actually complaining. And you personally are proving her right by acting like this is somehow a campaign to destroy Favre. By noting that he sent her pictures of his cock that she didn’t want, and called her a bunch of times.
So congratulations, Diogenes. You’ll have your quarterback available to throw post routes to safeties in the coming months and then limp off the field, we’re agreed. And it has fuck-all to do with anything anybody’s talking about in this thread. Jesus christ.
Fandom is a funny thing. What are the odds that Dio would be taking this strict, detached, “innocent until proven guilty” line if Favre was still playing for Green Bay? Less than 2%? Or can we safely classify it as a number that’s practically indistinguishable from zero?
He’s hardly alone in this sort thinking, of course. I’m just saying that sports fandom can provide some wonderful opportunities to people-watch.
