I finally used a Keurig machine.

There are some “cheats” available for getting a stronger cup of coffee from your Keurig machine. Just google it…

The one I like simply involves cutting the lid and about 1/8" off the top of a used K-cup and wash it out.
Then you put the cleaned little white cup into the gray housing {used for brewing with your own grind} .Then you put your coffee grinds {with the metal filter} into your white cup that has been pressed into the gray housing. Then attach the gray cap.

Now, the coffee HAS to go through the metal filter AND the little white cup{with the hole at the bottom}. The increased pressure of adding the white cup squeezes more flavor out of your grind.

My K-cup coffee has improved nicely with the above process.

I apologize for the poor description, but google has pictures of the process…

I generally drink one cup of coffee at home. The Keurig is perfect for me.

I like the Nantucket blend of Green Mountain Coffee. I keep some stronger brews around for friends. And I keep a regular coffee maker around for when I have lots of people over, or my mom visits – anytime I need a full 8-12 cups.

It’s nice to have options.

My husband likes coffee, my daughter likes tea, and my other daughter likes hot cocoa. One Keurig and everyone’s happy.

One of my suppliers had a giant Keurig machine in its reception lobby for several years, and it was fantastic to have a hot, fresh, cup of coffee while waiting for whomever I was visiting to come fetch me. It freed up the receptionists to do their tasks, and there was never a worry about having old, burnt coffee. It was permanently plumbed, so not even any water to replace.

Here in Asia the Nespresso machines at hotels are fairly popular. By using two cups and brewing two demitasse, I can get a decent single cup out of them. Much better than the typical Nescafe packets hotels often leave. The only issue I have with them is trying to get the maid to understand the difference between real coffee and decaf. The machine is mindless to use.

Still, I’d never buy one for my own use. I much prefer my French press (and recently) AeroPress. I finally bought an AeroPress for work. I just can’t stomach the horrible, company-provided coffee any more.
