Like many rhetorically bloodthirsty, flag-waving blowhards, HD shows every sign that in real life he’s a gutless coward – despite being the right age, he didn’t volunteer for the military even after 9/11 (which I don’t think was or should be a moral requirement for Americans after 9/11 – but it’s still in amusing conflict with his type of bloodthirsty, flag-waving rhetoric), or for the border patrol if he’s worried about immigration, or the police if he’s worried about crime… in short, he just (by his posts, anyway) wants to fondle his guns in his basement, fantasize about killing liberals, and never actually be in any personal physical danger whatsoever.
Yup. Whenever his fantasized-about Civil War happens, no one will not have anything to fear from him, personally.
That quote by him is pretty hilarious, considering how many vets we actually have – quite a few, and I think you’re one of them. On top of that, we have people like Stranger on a Train and others who could give whole lectures on current and previous military equipment. We’ve had multi-page discussions on what an aircraft carrier group can do, and many, many intelligent discussions on this modern army vs. that old military.
Maybe he just can’t believe that a vet could be a Democrat or have left-leaning politics, so he assumes we don’t know anything about it. (When I say “we”, I mean this board – I’ve never been in the military or studied the hardware or warfare in general)

This has been a particular bee in my bonnet for many years. And he’s hardly alone among conservatives if he has these feelings.
That’s because the only right I enlisted to protect was the 2nd Amendment. Not all those other rights that only liberal snowflakes care about.
On top of that, we have an Arctic paratrooper on this board who’s conducted operations north of the Arctic Circle and has in depth knowledge on Russia’s current activity and capabilities in the Arctic. “Not a lot of knowledge” he says. What an asshole.

I’ve just started rereading this, and this quote jumped out at me. Sums up, to a T, HurricaneDikta, and most of his reactionary right cohorts.
The right loves to propagate the myth that the military is overwhelmingly Republican.
But the simple fact is that Donald Trump has NEVER enjoyed even 50% support from the military.
Creating a Space Force hasn’t endeared him to the military? What about stripping budgets to build The Wall - no? Huh.
I’ve mentioned on this board before my personal observation of which groups in the military seem to be to be Democratic and which groups seem to be overwhelmingly Republican supporters. Oddly enough, the larger group is the “rank and file” and, contrary to what I expected, they (in my experience) are Republican, often very far into Republican.
