How many kids did you have? Best costume? How much candy did YOU eat Mom/Dad?
About 3 dozen (more than last year); Tie for best costume–one boy had the killer from “Scream” but when he squeezed the heart in his hand, THE FACE BLED! Runner-up: 8 year old towhead boy in full business suit with a name tag, “HI! I’m Donald Trump!” AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! Scary, kids. I’ll get back to you on candy consumption. ::urp::
Just came back from taking the Cub around the neighbourhood. He was Black Panther from Avengers, and got irritated with the people who thought he was Batman. We’ve had about 80 kids so far.
The kids had stopped by the time I got home. Apparently we all over estimated the number of kids we would get; and we all bought candy. There is literally about seven pounds of candy in the house right now.
It’s all going to work with me tomorrow.
I went to work dressed as a Renaissance Queen. My skirt was too long, and I had no time for hemming it, so I had to wear my pirate boots underneath. They have 2.5" platforms. It was fun being the tallest person at all the meetings today. LOL!
Zero. Nada. First time that happened. However there is a section of my town that does an amazing Halloween. They close the roads and all the houses are decked out. People from all over go there and I know they got tons of people so that is probably why I got none.
I live in a complex with zero kids so there’s no trick or treating to speak of. Most of the action is going on a couple of blocks away over in Willow Glen. The prime neighborhood is Los Gatos though…those folks go all out.
This is a great one. It’s been my own costume for the last ten years or so. The heart tends to dry out, but adding some warm water always seems to refresh it. The second or third year I used it, though, I scared the heck out of a first-time trick or treater. I still feel really, really, bad. This year, though, it was cool to see one youngster’s eyes widen as he slowly stepped back!
I also stole a design from the internet and had my best jack-o-lantern yet: I carved a small, pumpkin-like gourd and stuck it in the mouth of my main jack-o-lantern, making it look like it was being consumed. It was also the first year that I used my Dremel tool to make my pumpkins just a bit more intricate than in the past.
It’s good to be back from China and participate in Halloween again!
For all my work, though, there were only about 12 or so groups. This is my first year in the new neighborhood, and I thought it would be so many more kids. Looks like I’ll have to go off ketosis until all of the candy is gone…
Just 3 kids. The last 2 showed up just before 9, when I had decided I would give up and shut the door for the night. So I gave them everything left in the candy bowl–half a dozen Almond Joys and quite a lot of little M&M bags.
We went trick or treating in a well to do neighborhood and Junior Cardigan got a full sized candy bar at one house. Apparently the numbers of trick or treaters were way down because the last couple houses at the end of the evening did the ol’ “here you go kid, you can have the rest of the candy in the bowl, otherwise we’ll eat it” thing
Only about two dozen kids. Got a ton last year, so we got extra candy. At least I work at a university so I can bring it in to the office and the students will mow through it pretty fast.
Costumes? Pretty much the same as last year; a lot of Iron Mans, Scream masks, and Frozen princesses, and then a couple of Kylo Rens which were new. A few groups of teenagers with minimal/no costumes after 9pm. And one little guy in a Batman costume who came all the way at 10pm with his mother, he was my last customer.
My son went as an Imperial Stormtrooper this year. It was so tempting to say “Aren’t you a little short for a Stormtrooper?” But I held back.
There was a kid dressed up as the fourth Doctor Who, which was my son’s costume 2 years ago. My son’s was better. He had a sonic screwdriver. This one was pretty good though. And I like any little kid who can pull off that reference.
My son’s candy haul was HUGE. He tried to share with the cats, but they weren’t interested. He gave some to his buddy’s older brother, because he felt sorry for him that he was too old to go trick-or-treating.
Man, you wanna see lots of cool costumes? Do a “trunk ‘r’ treat” thing. My mom’s church was involved in one and I’ve never seen so many roving hoards outside of The Walking Dead. It was such fun and the best outfit went to Jake, from State Farm.
