I Got My Elephant!!!

pucette, there was a note on the back of the comic taped to the purple sack thing.

zebra, i heard that some of the stuffed toys at the fire stations were going to the kids who’s parents died on 9-11. true?

rocking chair:

  AAAAAAARGH!

I didn’t see it :frowning: :frowning: :frowning:

I’m sorry. But thank you. Thank you incredibly much.

I’m really glad you were pleased. I should have read this thread before mailing. I’m feeling a bit underachieverish. I haven’t seen a condom in 15 years, (no gasps of horror please, I married young) it never occured to me that they go in every care package.

I’ll have to think about who I can ask for a condom to include in the round 3 package, because if I go purchase condoms my husbands going to really wonder.

sigh can I sit with the not yet’s too?
Hey Bunny, you want to compare belly rings? perk

WOO HOOO!!! Something today didn’t actually suck (it’s been a BAD day)!

I got my Elephant!!! I received it earlier today, and have preserved the box, unopened, until now… so that I may open it “Live”… I don’t even know who sent it to me!

This is so exciting!

OK… hang on…

Damn! It’s hard to cut through this tape with the nail-file on my clippers! Wait…
Sheesh! There! It’s open!

OK:

Lots of pink packing-peanuts (have to think of a use for those later!)…

AHA! A letter on top! It’s from Kat!!! Thanks Kat! Cute elephant picture!

Second thing pulled out of the box: a note-book sort of thingy (bound in maybe pseudo-leather…). Rebound, Inc.? Hmmm… well this will almost surely be claimed by Astrogirl; she loves notebooks! She’ll happily spend the day planning stuff that will never happen…

Third thing: a book! (Excellent! I just finished the book I was reading, and need something new… Kudos, Kat!!)… Street Magic by Michael Reaves. Dunno the author off-hand, but it is next on my reading list!

Fourth thing: errr…ummm… Ah! (took me a few seconds) A plastic toy diving sub from McDonald’s(?); Disney’s Atlantis movie promo, I assume… pull apart, add baking soda, etc. (did someone say "white elephant swap round 3? I ask just for information, of course…).

Fifth thing: Hey! A Teddy Bear! Wearing a red beret and red t-shirt! Cool… thanks! (AG will probably confiscate this as well… she LOVES stuffed animals, but hates the real ones!)

Sixth thing: (wrapped in paper) a ceramic bear figurine, hinged at the waist so that it can open to reveal a small space inside… That’s just weird! I guess you could put your weed in there… if you didn’t have much weed. (What? Round 3?? Well, OK, if you guys insist…:))

Seventh thing: whoa! Hey! A big coffee mug!! Excellent!! Can’t have too many coffee mugs!!! This one is red, and has a logo on it thaty says, “The Great ‘Hio’ Bicycle Adventure”? The ‘Hio’ part is designed into the shape of a bike, and I’m not sure I can read it correctly… I’m keeping this one!!

Wait! I just got it while admiring it!! It’s “The great OHIO Bicycle Adventure”!!! The 'O’s are bicycle tires… (Heh… the reason I got it was that the Drew Carey show came on as I was looking at it, and the theme song gave me the inspiration! ABSOLUTELY true, I swear!!! (really!) “Ohio …hio …io …o…”)

Eighth thing: a um… thingy. What the hell is this? It looks like a blood-pressure cuff, sort of… got it!!! It’s to snuggle around my beer to keep it cold longer!! (Right? Right???) I hope that’s what it is, because I just snuggled it around my beer… seems to fit perfectly to a beer can, so I’m pretty sure that’s what it is. Keeping this one, too!

Ninth thing: (pause for a moment to re-investigate the ceramic bear… I guess you could put some weed in there if you only had a little… I don’t have any :frowning: so I can’t test it… but it seems like you could keep some weed in there… hmmm… put it on top of the computer and worry about it later.) Hmmm. A ball with fangs and wings! Or a bat with no body? What the hell is this? It’s cute, but I’m cluless… It bounces off the floor, but the wings make it go in weird directions… what the hell?(round 3 you say? Well… OK!)

Tenth thing: Hey! A keeper! A small Halloween pumpkin stuffed doll! (Cool! Halloween is just a few weeks away! This will come in handy here in Korea where they don’t do Halloween!) Excellent!!

Eleventh thing: well, 2 actually (they came out together)… 2 golf-tee shaped pens! Ummm… OK, they actually write! (I tried them out on the picture of the elephant that Kat sent…)

12th thing: (OK, I bailed on this… couldn’t figure out how to spell it!) WAY COOL!!! A rubber snake!! This WILL be used in the near future to scare Astrogirl… THANKS!

Thirteenth thing: (Damn! I only sent about 8 things…) a “Who Wants to be a Millionaire” mini game!? Huh? Remember, I’ve been in Korea for the past 6 years or so… I DO know of the game show “Who Wants to be a Millionaire”, but I’ve never seen it… this may take a while for me to figure out…

Fourteenth thing: searching through the pink packing peanuts… Ah! One more thing! A small, uh, deally… wait a second while I investigate… What the hell? It’s a tiny little marker pen… it says: “Golf Marker” and it’s maybe 2 inches long… the color of the ink is red… What the Hell is this? Any golfers out there who can explain? (I don’t play golf…)?
Wow! Thanks Kat!!!

I’m ready for round 3, and my beer is still cold!! Woo Hoo!!
THANKS, Kat!!

So… mine still hasn’t gotten to someplace like, say, Seattle??

Shore 'nuff! I’m still in Waiting Wonderland too.

<flourish> Mine was sent yesterday! </flourish>

::: still has her nose pressed to the window, waiting for her elephant and the zoo delivery truck :::

sigh

E.

Oh boy! Oh boy! Oh boy! I gotta leave the "I don’t have mine " room! Got my Elephant.

Okay, let’s see. Geez, it’s a honking big package, isn’t it? First out, L’OREAL Gray Hair Color toner. Hmmm, I’ll have to save that for later. A video “Royal Deceit”, it has Helen Mirren in it so I’ll watch it tonight, she’s a good actress. A note pad with those Boynton kitties on it. Love these! Cats are my favored animal. A coffee cup from IAMS cat food, great again! Mini conch shell. Small green Buddha figure. A bite and sting extractor first aid kit, unopened. Could come in handy. A picture puzzle with a note that says “Puzzle is missing one piece right in the middle of the flamingo. Kindly old lady who sold it swore it was complete. I failed to notice her pants were aflame when she spoke.” Cool! A rubber band ball. An automatic timer for lights to go on and off. And a little dealy with a note that says sometimes it plays the University of Iowa fight song, and sometimes it doesn’t. I’m going to put THIS in a place where I don’t touch it much because since I’ve been handling it the problem is to make it STOP playing the song!. What are their colors/mascot anyway? There’s a few other items too, small toys and such. THANK YOU TO MY ELEPHANT GIVER!! And my cats thank you too, because they love boxes and my Tobermory is even now inside the box. Flaps are closed and he thinks the Road Warrior doesn’t know where he is, but Roadie is already sniffing around.

Bye, Baker! It was nice having you in the waiting area!

::seawitch stares into sadly empty mailbox::

::starts humming I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry::

Got mine!

I don’t know who it’s from… but that gas mask (along with the other goodies) is hilarious!!! Thanks!!!

Elly

I haven’t seen anything from the person I unloaded all my sh…I mean sent my wonderful presents to. Did anyone in Vermont receive a package from me? Including a used flea collar, a scratched-up AOL 4.0 disc, and a beat-up pair of shoes with holes in the bottoms?

Yay! Glad to hear it. Explanations follow, as needed.

Those are recycled from Round One. I used the same box and peanuts that Arden Ranger sent the Original WE Package in.

Thanks. I’m making it a SDMB White Elephant Tradition. G

That, and all the other things with logos on them, I got from work a couple years ago. They’re samples from print vendors we don’t use any more. They gave us all a bunch.

I always figure everyone can use a new book.

Cereal box, not McDonald’s. Can’t remember which cereal, though.

That was a prize from my sister’s baby shower (given by her sister-in-law). I don’t know what the heck it’s for.

Yes, that’s what it is. I think I have another one, but I couldn’t find it. I suppose it can go for Round Three.

I think it’s supposed to be a vampire bat. It was a Halloween decoration. That glitter on it, by the way, was acquired while residing in the desk drawer; it didn’t come glittered.

He came with the bat.

I’m glad you like him. I really, really hated to part with him, but he wanted to go to South Korea.

That’s another cereal box prize. I had 2 of them, but I forgot to put the 2nd one in. Another one for Round Three.

I haven’t a clue. Perhaps to write down the scores?

You’re welcome. I’m glad you like it.

I’ve received word from my crap donor, apologizing for the delay. How civilized. I appreciated her thoughtfulness.

Elly, it was from me. I had sender beneath your address with eirroc in brackets, but the lady at the post office had to stick labels over it and said she would write it on the side, she must have forgotten the eirroc bit. Glad you liked it.

Kee hee!

We had a blast, here  There was much Elephant Worshipping!

Lots of goodies I’m not sharing… bah, you know what they say about one man’s junk being another’s treasure…

Of course, if I were a man, that’d make sense…

 Thanks, Eirroc!

Elly, the Happy Elephant Owner

It has indeed. In fact, it arrived earlier this week, I just hadn’t gotten into the thread yet.

I found (outside my doorstep) this lovely box with both korean and english writing on it to me.

Inside my box was: [ul]
[li]A fan - which now resides on the top shelf of one of my bookcases (I like fans)[/li][li]A Golden Butterfly Harmonica. Black and gold and very pretty.[/li][li]A CD…I have no idea how to describe it…[/li][li]Mighty Aphrodite with Korean subtitles!(which very well may be going to my dad, since he loved that movie, and would get a major kick out of this)[/li][li]A movie called “Tomboy” which stars no one I’ve ever heard of, looks like cheesy 80s direct to video, and came with the description “one of the 5 worst movies I’ve ever seen.” I’ve been too afraid to put it in the VCR yet.[/li][li]a mousepad - that I’m using as I type.[/li][/ul]

Thank you, thank you, thank you Astroboy.
Really brightened my day!

Dear (Omnipotent diety of your choice) Astroboy! Tomboy? The girls has dark hair and races cars, or something?

amarinth, do not watch that movie! I repeat: Do Not Watch! You have been warned.

You’d think the Post Office would stop that package just from the stink of that movie…
-Rue.

So I get home and there’s this big package on the porch, from, it looked like, a tile design company. Oh crap, says I, was I clicking “buy it” buttons while drunk again?

I opened it: Oh…says I, crap! It’s my white elephant! Which contained the following:
[ul]
[li]Coasterware from AOL (Sure! To replace my DOS disks I got rid of)[/li][li]An Avon Cat Candle (with that classic “Avon smell” that can break you out in hives)[/li][li]A purple Twisty Straw (no felching jokes please)[/li][li]An issue of The Sporting News from August (Cool! Beginning of season football profiles!)[/li][li]Two blaze orange baseball caps (“Consolidated Pipe and Supply” and “Marmon/Keystone: The Pipe and Tubing People”)[/li][li]A lantern-battery flashlight (which after we fiddled with it, actually works)[/li][li]A swivel sink aerator (already installed in the laundry sink)[/li][li]A Dewalt screw driving head for a power drill (Tsk. Already got one)[/li][li]A jewelcase of some…um…interesting looking old watches[/li][li]A silver, lidded pocket ashtray[/li][li]A ceramic “Home Sweet Home” napkin holder[/li][li]Ceramic “Ma and Pa Duck” salt and pepper shakers[/li][li]A plastic and fabric angel, posed in a weird free-fall position[/li][li]And last–a nice touch–a photo of the lovely SilkyThreat and three of her lovely children![/ul][/li]
Thanks, Silky!
