Ain’t it a classic? I’m glad Loafie found a good home. I bought the thing years ago, but some people (my wife) just don’t appreciate the almost Zen-like quality of the squeaking viscera. I actually tried to sell it at a yard sale last year, but nobody wanted it. He actually may be a collectible. I got him from Archie McPhee, and just checked out their on-line catalog and it looks like no more Loafman. Take care of him, and thanks for the on-line photo.
Squeaking Viscera???
How could I have missed that? This is turning out to be a close one…so far we have the 3D lightup rendition of the Last Supper complete with tacky frame, vs. Loafman[sup]TM[/sup]. Any more nominations?

Still no sight of a white Pachyderm…
But I’m told someone in MA didn’t quite know what to do with the green goo I sent
E.
I’d welly like to weceive a pwesent. :sniff, sniff:
Elenfair, I’m sitting here waiting (im)patiently, too. Do you want to wait together? We could do Mad Libs, or something?
Helllloooo?!?! Package-derm?!?! Where are you?!?!
[robot flailing arms]Warning! Warning! Danger Will Robinson![/robot flailing arms]
Since UncleBill wasn’t disapointed in my offering, I’ll still really excited about this whole Exchange thingy. I have a start on White Elephant III: The Awakening, and if it goes that far, I have a plan for The White Elephant Secret Santa (as long as the buget goes all the way up to $9.00).
Bwa-hahahahaha!
-Rue.
Our mailroom guy informs me that he CAN’T mail the White Elephant package for the same reason I couldn’t put it down the package-swallowing-thingy last night - a package weighing more than a pound that has stamps MUST be handed over to the postal folks in person. Sigh. There goes my lunch hour.
Elenfair, I can only offer these words of soothing: your package is travelling a long way.
Bunny and Rue, be patient. Good things wait for those that come…or something.
Oh, and Rue, WRT “White Elephant III: The Awakening,” you are more than welcome to help out, but don’t you try poaching in my game reserve or I might have ta hunt’cha down, see?
I’m still working on getting mine together. Much stuff going on with me right now. I promise I’ll try to get it in the mail by Monday.
I’m still awaiting my package. I have terrible thoughts of thinksnow saying, “OK, that’s it. Everyone has gotten their package. It seems like bean_shadow has not. Too…BAD!” All the people who receieved their Elephant is on the back of a flat-bed truck (driven by thinksnow) laughing and comparing their Elephants. And then there’s little me running to catch up, coughing on the dust. “I want to be on the truck too!”
I hear about those poor souls who didn’t recieve their White Elephants during the last wave, and I hope I’m not one of them.
I just mailed mine today, so some lucky (?) and patient soul in New York State will be getting their package soon. Sorry for the delay. Sorry also for not drawing nifty decorations all over the box–that seems to be de rigeur, but Cranky has fallen short.
And as for getting a package late? Well, last time mine came way late but it was worth the wait. I can report that I didn’t “recycle” any of the items I received last round, cool and elephant-worthy though they were. Hell, I didn’t need to. My own crap runneth over.

I did help out. I said I’m in for the next one. If that’s not helping I don’t know what is.
And I just got a psychic message from the Great Beyond telling me Good Things are in my Future. (That should be read in a creepy voice with a lot of reverb.) OK, it was a very nice and reassuring e-mail. (It’s com-ing, it’s com-ing!)
And finally (probably) what does “WRT” mean. I’m not hip to all the jive computerese lingo, you dig? (This ain’t Instant Messaging. Can’t you take the extra 5 seconds and just say what you mean? Sheesh!)
-Rue.
Wwith Regards To.
Any more questions I can answer for you? Meaning of life? Lottery numbers? Price of gas in 3 weeks?
So that’s cooler than “re:”? Thanks Bun, Yyer a Ppeach.
-Rue.
Smarty-pants.
I drove to the nearest post office (however dimly the concept of “near” applies to this building - it was in the rings of Saturn), waited in line, and handed the elephant to a bored postal employee. He carefully cancelled all the stamps I’d stuck on there the night before so that my recipient couldn’t peel them off and reuse them and that was that! Should be there by Monday - I sent it priority mail.
Pale Pachyderm sent 15 minutes ago. ETA: Less than two months.
Thanks, Canada Post.
Sent at lunch time today, didn’t ask about ETA, bloody hope it’s quicker than less than two months! Hoping for about 5 day’s?
To my recipient… I have had a box all packed up since a week ago Monday. Tuesday happened and my whole life kinda ground to a halt, the box is still sitting here. I will get it out in the next day or so.
By the way, my elephant has not landed yet, so I must not be the only one.

Man, if I had a dollar for every time I heard that…
Actually that might make a good sig line; do you mind if I quote you?

Would you believe my parents were just going to throw that away? I had to step in and say “No! Don’t! That’s completely useless; I want it.”

[li]a Polaroid SONAR camera - does it work?[/li]
**
::shrug:: I think the camera itself works, but it needs a special film that isn’t made any more. Like so many other things I own, I got this at a rummage sale, 'cos it was only a dollar.

[li]Oh My! Wow! A reproduction of the Last Supper! It is in 3D, it has the tackiest thin tarnished metal filigree frame I have ever seen, and IT LIGHTS UP!!! Words fail me![/li]

Another rummage sale find. $2, man, and that’s the gaudiest, tackiest damn thing I’ve ever seen. I almost included it in the first White Elephant Swap, but then changed my mind at the last second, so that I alone could revel in its ugliness. When White Elephant round II came up, I figured that that must be the Universe’s way of telling me that I must share this appalling “art” with the world. Enjoy.

Way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way ::deep breath:: way, way, way, way, way, way, way up north. On Lake Superior, in the Chequamegon Bay, near Bayfield & the Apostle Islands. Maybe 70 miles E. of Duluth.
I still don’t have mine(sniff, sniff)
