I got my first filling last week; Is this normal? (Teeth, wankers)

Is eating ice cream supposed to be painful? I know I shouldn’t chew on tinfoil anymore at the horror of others, but ice cream?!

Never had a cavity, got no fillings and all my teeth are good.
AND still from time to time really COLD stuff will hurt. I think maybe your tooth is still a bit sensitive from the shock. However…this is based on seeing other family members who’ve experienced what you’re saying.

You should settle in in a few more days.

Do me a favour though; chew some tinfoil and see why it made others shudder.

WTF is the deal w/ tinfoil? Like I said, all my teeth are good, but tinfoil to me is like fingernails on a chalkboard…

I got my first filling about six months ago and was surprised to find out that it was sensitive to both heat and cold. For me, the cold thing took more than a few days to wear off—it was more like a couple weeks before I could eat ice cream on that side of my mouth.

Unfortunately, it’s all normal.

In most, the problem goes away in a matter of days to weeks.

I on the other hand, have always had some sensitivity to cold, and following a filling 2+ years ago, still can’t eat ice cream, nor drink cold drinks on the right side of my mouth. (you get good at “tongue blocking”). The dentist says nothing is wrong with the filling, just bad luck.
