I Got Nuttin’… The Worst Ever MMP

Yes, but he has a job, is married, and lives in a city where you can get around quite well using public transportation. A DL for you guys isn’t really necessary like it is in suburban Virginia.

And yes, swampy, that’s the plan. I’ve already talked to them about getting a home theater in the house. They were all for it, until I showed them thatt it would involve combining their bedrooms into one room.

Subtle I ain’t. But I usually get my way.

Scenes From a Mall

I wandered through the new Bloomies mall near my office at lunchtime, and gawked at all the shiny expensive things and found a new definition of “Specialty Shop.” There is a store there that sells olive oil. Just olive oil. I don’t even want to know how expensive the oil is to sustain the rent in a premium downtown shopping center. It’s not like they were hidden away down a corridor to the left of the food court, either.

I still haven’t figured out the Hollister clothing shops. Dark and unwelcoming, loud pounding music and clothes far too expensive for the residents of the real Hollister to afford. (Hollister is a neighbor to Gilroy. They have all of the low-paid farm workers of questionable residency status without the glamor of garlic that Gilroy has.)

On my way out, a long-haired guy speaks to me on the escalator. Says something about Giuseppe being on the cover. I return an Urban Half Smile and nod so he doesn’t think I’m completely ignoring him. He then says it’s a small world. Happily, the end of the escalator has arrived and I scoot off. Eeek!

How old is he?

gotti, you should go in there and just taste olive oils all day.

Today was Dylan Moran day. We watched everything he has ever done, and much wine was consumed. He is the hottest thing since sliced bread, which is pretty damn hot when toasted and covered in nutella.

Sourdough starter is lovingly handed down through families and close friends. I believe he got his from a distant relative in Alaska. (My great-great grandfather participated in the Yukon gold rush, seeing as how his father-in-law ran him out of Iowa for getting his 16 year old sister-in-law pregnant while she was staying with her sister, his wife, who was pregnant with my great-grandfather at the time. He did eventually send for the rest of the family a few years later, but never set foot in Iowa again. My family is charming no matter *how *far back you go.) The older the starter, the better. New starter takes a couple of years to get really sour.

I found beads for my bag, actually, for both bags. They’re glass, with crackly color over them. And, I found some rose beads for my Rose Garden bag.

Now gotti ya gotta admit Giuseppe is kinda cute.

Actually, this guy looked like a mix of Duff Goldman, Jesse James (Monster Garage) and any of the long-haired and long-bearded guys fom ZZ Top.

No idea what Giuseppe looks like, since he didn’t say what he was on the cover of.

Mindy, I learn a lot from you. First, I learned that one should not cross a cranky old dude’s lawn or bad things will ensue. Second, I learned how to savor a danish. I mean, you make that thing sound like it’s better than New Age sex or something. Wow. Who knew? Because of what you wrote, I went out to a sandwich shop to get an apple croissant (I wanted strawberry, but they were out), but when I ate it, it was only meh. I couldn’t reproduce that goodness that you seemed to enjoy.

rosie, I’m glad that your ipod is back to working. When my Palm goes out like that, and I have to hard reset, I generally lose all my digital audiobooks because the DRM (digital rights management) goes out of synch., so I have to reload all my books again which often takes a while.

Nava, wow, it’s great to see you hanging in so well. You sure have a lot going on there. Hugs to you, and I hope things settle down soon.

Well, I went to hockey practice, then went to Sam’s Club. I almost got a 37" LCD TV for $450, but the other guy grabbed it while I was getting a cart. I have a Cornish hen in the oven, and am going to watch hockey on PC.

rigs, sorry about the barf.

rigs - Cuervo puked today, but was polite enough to do it on a pile of towels headed for the washing machine anyway.

I had a busy, crappy, get-nothing-done kind of day, so once the Wife makes it in the door, we outta here for some pizza and beerverages.

Not tomorrow - FRIDAY!! I hafta work tomorrow but I’m off FRIDAY!! So don’t look for me tomorrow, and as long as the weather doesn’t totally screw up the roads, I’ll see ya FRIDAY!!

So how about the Memphis BBQ place there at 301 and 50? And how about 11:30-ish? I’ll email ya my cell #.

I’m late to the party today - I worked over because of Idiot Stupidhead, and when I got home, my interweb connection was kerflooie. But it’s back now.

We’re being threatened with snow and freezing rain and crap tomorrow and into Friday. Depending on how much and how freezy and how slippery will determine whether I dare drive to the wilds of Bowie…

Oh yeah - class last night was a good one, so YAY! Now I gotta pack lunch and get ready for beauty sleep.

I cannot believe no one caught this
Your yarn sings?

Actually, I saw it, but yarns have funky names. And evidently this one exists. Karaoke Multi yarn

I love looking at yarns, but I’ve only made two sweaters so far. Looking at yarns is still fun, though.

Jahdra, what’s soy silk and how does it feel by itself?

Lordy, the only soy silk I know of is the drinkable kind. This conversation could get interesting!
#2 son is asleep. I really hope he’s better tomorrow. He needs to eat something-like some soup or something. <maternal worry machine kicks in>
It’s freaking cold outside. I took a 2 hour nap which left me bleary and groggy. I know you all are fascinated by this. Should I continue?

Off to do laundry load #6. Yeeha.

gotti, what’s wrong with that? Duff is a cutie! He just needs to work on his facial hair styling.

Sound advice wherever you go. The discontented elderly are not to be trifled with.

The trick is A) not to buy packaged, and B) not to buy old. It has to be fresh, and the puffier the better. If it seems like it may float an inch or so off the table yet has a light, flaky and crispy outside, you know you’ve got a fine danish on your hands. I’ve had some wretched danishes before – soft, a little slimy, definitely not bakery caliber.

I wish I could bake 'cos I’d love to make these danishes. On the other hand, it may be a good thing that I don’t. I need to lose weight, not pack it on like a fall bear. (Not you, Swampy)

What happens when your Palm goes out? I’ve only ever had mine require a hard reset when I was trying to use a memory extender (UDMH) on a Zire72 and it was buggy to the point that it would get thrown into an infinite soft reset loop. Other than that I’ve had no significant troubles. You running any hacks or anything?

Soy silk is yarn made from tofu by-products. It feels, wait for it, silky by itself. Spun right, it can be hard to tell the difference from regular silk. It’s a nice alternative to silk, especially for vegans. Karaoke does not sing, in fact, I am not happy with it. The first skein has had two knots and lots of hay in it. I can accept that in Noro Kureyon, first, because of the colors, since I love Mr. Noro’s colors, and secondly, it’s 100% wool. I don’t appreciate having to use my Noro tweezers (yes, I love Noro so much, I own tweezers just for picking out the splinters and hay) on a yarn that is only 50% wool and is NOT Noro. There’s no excuse for hay in a soy silk yarn, unless soybeans have suddenly become herbivorous. So, it’s pretty, but I won’t be using it again. At the same price as Kureyon, I’ll buy the real thing, thank you. I will use soy silk yarns again, just not this particular one. I can’t believe people actually made Clapotis out of this stuff. Lion and Lamb is sinfully soft, Karaoke isn’t even on the same planet.

So how was House, Spats? I hear there was a new episode.

I’m procrastinating on getting some work done. I will stop now and come back once I’ve finished the fun  work.

GT

Today was such a trial. I had class with That Guy and we sat next to each other and cracked jokes like we usually do, but at one point I had to get up and go outside for a moment because I felt physically ill.

After class we talked for a few minutes, but it didn’t help anything. Basically he said he didn’t know what he wanted to do anymore. He’s attracted to me, he values our friendship, but he doesn’t know if he’s ready to break up with his girlfriend (who he’s been dating for 3 years now, I think). I just told him that I didn’t really regret what happened (well, I regret the situation, but I don’t regret what actually happened, I suppose) and basically let him know it was really up to him what happens next. He said he’d rather “put it off” for now. I don’t know if he’s actually conflicted or if he’s just trying to spare my feelings. Either way it’s giving me a headache.

Well. Hopefully this thesis proposal will help me take my mind off my personal drama.

I’m off to sleep now.
Oh - there’s been a developement with The Guy. For the last several weeks, between battling his own flu/bronchitis. he’s been taken care of his ailing father, which is why I haven’t heard from him. But he called this evening, and we’re getting together on the 10th at my friend’s temple’s Veas night.
