I’m so excited. I got an article published. Admitedly it is in a small speciality newsletter called Ecological 4 Wheeling Adventures but I am proud none the less.
I wrote an account of a 4 wheeling trip I took to Mexico’s Copper Canyon. My article was originally 5,000 words long. The editor asked me to cut it to 1,000! What a struggle. I was finally able to get it down to just under 2,000 and they accepted that. They also included 4 photographs I took on the trip.
My sample copies arrived about a week ago and my heart was pounding as I tore open the mailing envelope. My name and words in print! What a thrill! Then yesterday, the actual newsletter arrived and I was thrilled all over again.
Great American Novel here I come.
Congratulations, Encinitas. That is so exciting. Just wait till you get your first cheque. You probably will want to frame it.
Hey Sweet! Congratualations. It doesn’t matter if it is a small magazine, you got published! Good job. Maybe someday I will also get to see some of my stuff in print.
Congratulations! I hope it inspires you to keep going!
Congratulations. Now you’re addicted.
Woo hoo!
We’ll have to remember to toast you with a spoonful-o-ice cream on the 30th!
How wonderful! I share your joy! This is the beginning of great things for you!
That’s great! Getting published is always a good thing. I laughed when you said they asked you to cut it to 1000 words. That’s typical; I have never been accused of using too few words.
They always want it shorter, but I have found that if you are within 10-20% of the word limit they impose you’re okay. My first published article got hacked nearly to death, but that’s another story.
Anyway, keep it up! There’s nothing like seeing your name in print. Congrats!
Congratulations! If I’m not mistaken, there are quite a few aspiring writers on this board; I hope we can all make the same announcement some day.
