Ten years ago I had an idea for an article. I submitted the idea to a conference, they asked me to present it, I came, I presented, they said they would publish the article, I submitted the article…
I waited. They said it was in progress.
I waited. Still in progress.
I waited. Editing takes time, they said.
I waited. Almost done, they said.
I waited.
They said they had decided not to publish the proceedings of the conference. :smack: Bloody Irish! (oops, that slipped out. I’m sure most Irish conference organizers do in fact publish their proceedings as promised, and I just got an unfortunate draw…)
So I had to find someone else who might be interested in publishing it.
But by then there had been changes to the law so I had to update.
And law reviews use different footnote styles than the conference had used, so I had to re-do all the cites.
I sent a draft to a friend who is an editor of a journal, who was very encouraging.
And stuff happened, like work things, and family things and taking the Cub to soccer, and so on…
My editor friend occasionally sent me a reminder, asking if I’d made progress on it.
And tonight I hit SEND!
W00t!
