Yep.
At 80s dance night at local bar tonight (Rue13 on Washington for STLers). Go for cheap Pabst and dancin’.
Awesome 80s dance soundtrack there. Yeah, I wasn’t alive/coherent for most of the 80s (21) but still love the tunes. Duran Duran, Eurthymics, Devo, etc.
This particular bar shows the music videos for the 80s songs they play on 2 big screens.
Dancing away to something, song changes, then look up…
Friggin Rickroll
I died laughing.
Then danced my heart out.
How was everyone else’s Friday night?
You know, it’s AMAZING how much play this joke got. Not only that, but how it’s got a second, and almost third wind now that “everyone else” has heard of it and it’s funny to them now.
Does it count as a Rick Roll if I unwittingly followed your link in a Rick Roll thread?
ETA: I have to thank you though. I no longer have that godawful ‘‘Where Were You When the World Stopped Turning’’ Alan Jackson song stuck in my head.
I got rickrolled Friday night, too!
I clicked on this link on youtube (same one that’s mentioned in the wiki article myskepticsight linked), expecting Muppets. I actually thought it was funny, they match up Beaker’s mouth movements with the song really well, and it’s got Animal in it. Animal can make up for a whole world of sins. I’d watch “Ishtar” if it had Animal in it.
That Muppets video pretty much encapsulates the question I’ve been asking myself for more than 20 years: How the hell does that deep voice come out of that skinny white guy?
Didn’t the WHOLE of youtube become that video for one day?
Bwahahah! Actually, you’re not the only one to get Rickrolled IRL on Friday night. I was also at a party last night, and while I was on the dance floor “Never Gonna Give You Up” came on. According to the DJ, a couple of smartasses apparently requested it.
