Brutus defening CNN? Horror!
I just find it fucking funny that theres more coverage about some moron saying fuck on cnn then the rest of it.

What surprised me most is that, when the balloons finally fell, they were all shaped exactly like Janet Jackson’s starboard breast. Weird.
I must laugh, else I’d cry…
Anyway, I thought it was worth a chuckle or two. Stuff like this happens all the time… it’s really fun in live theatre.
I don’t know why anyone would get their panties in a knot. I know they WILL, I just don’t know WHY…
There were two things I didn’t get about that one.

Why didn’t someone realize they’d cut into the wrong mike feed and turn it off? Were they not watching in the control room? Did they think someone reading off the balloon drop instructions would be that interesting? A few seconds of this I could understand, but it went on for a couple minutes. Whoever was on mike control needs to be sharing a set of cement shoes with the balloon drop controller.

Why did the CNN people feel the need to handwring over the guy using an obscenity because the balloons were coming slow? Just point out it was supposed to be on a closed line and have a good laugh. If people write in hate mail, burn it, or better yet write them back telling them exactly which orifii they can cram future missives into.

They didn’t just deliberately broadcast the production guy once, they replayed the event later.

I wasn’t watching the convention, so could someone please explain how this is CNN’s fault? If I’m following this correctly from the other posts, the director of the convention somehow ended up with an open mike, and his stage directions were being broadcast over the floor, right? Assuming the guys in the control room aren’t employees of CNN, which seems very unlikely, CNN is just reporting on the fuck-up, correct? Surely you don’t expect them to not report something like this?
They weren’t out to the floor, only on the televised audio feed.
