Well, as the title says, I have been having the same song stuck in my head for about two weeks now, and it’s driving me insane!! Anyways, I was wondering if anyone knew the singer or the name of the song. All I remember is the part that goes “Oh oh oh, oh oh oh oh oh.” Its a classic rock song, and it kind of sounds like Blue Oyster Cult, only much happier sounding than other BOC songs. Anyways, I’d appreciate it if you guys could help.
Sounds like the chorus of Led Zeppelin’s “D’Yer Mak’er.”
Check the CDNow clip here.
No, that’s not it. D’Yer Maker has 6 “oh’s”, not 8. (Not that I’m being nitpicky.) Thanks anyways!
Don’t Fear the Reaper?
Nope, that’s not it either. I checked the lyrics, and there’s no “Ohs” in that song. I don’t think that the song is by Blue Oyster Cult, but it has that same meloncholic mood to it.
Can you describe the pitch changes of the "oh"s?
Minor or major key? Starts on the 3rd, root, 5th, 2nd, 7th, whatever?
Or, if you lack a background in music theory, could you kinda draw a picture on a napkin starting with the first note, how many notes up (or down) does each note go from the one before it? (and, of course, post the results of your calcs).
Uhhhh… Well it kinda goes : Ohohoh oh oh oh oh oooooooo.
As for pitch changes, the whole song is kinda monotone.
Invisible Sun by the Police?
Nope. The song that I’m asking about is much older. I don’t know how much older, though.
Does it go like this?

minor; start on root (top note is the third)
‘Building a Bridge to Your Heart’ by Wax fits the “oh’s”, but not really the BOC bit.
I now have ‘Building a Bridge to Your Heart’ stuck in my head. Thanks. ;0)
I’m thinking it’s The Breakup Song (?) by the Greg Kihn band. The chorus goes “They don’t write 'em like that anymore”, and the verses do have 8 oh’s after each lyric.
I think muttrox has it. Starts with an arpeggiated guitar riff over Am F G, then
We had broken up for good just an hour before
ah ah aah
uh uh uh ah aah
Hey! I just checked Amazon.com, and that’s the song I was talking about!!! Thank you soooooo much. I’d, like, give you a hug and stuff, but that’s kinda impossible, so I’ll just have to say thanks instead.
You’re welcome.
Honestly, I can never get “name this book” or “name this movie” before someone else, I just feel smugly superior to have finally nailed one. Good warmup for trivia tonight.
