extremely vague lyrics, but please help

I heard it on the radio today (I’ve heard it before too) but now it’s stuck in my head and I have to know the name of it. It’s either from the 70’s or 80’s but i’m pretty sure it’s 80s. It’s an up-tempo fairly moderate rock song.

The part i keep hearing over and over is what I THINK is the refrain and it goes: “oh uh oh-oh-oh oh-oh ohhhhh”

I know it’s really plain and repetative but it’s really the best I can do, sorry. But if anyone knows this song please help!

“Saved by Zero” by The Fixx?

D’yer Mak’er by Led Zeppelin?

Oh, oh-oh-oh-oh-oh, you don’t have to go-oh, oh-oh-oh-oh
You don’t have to go-oh, oh-oh-ah-ah, you don’t have to go

I know it isn’t D’yer Maker, that song sounds sorta “calypso” to me and definately not the one i’m thinking of. And the “Saved by Zero” is too slow and mellow.

This song almost reminds me of something that sounds like a Bon Jovi tune.

“Red Skies”, by The Fixx, perhaps? “Wo-oh, wo-oh-oh oh-oh-oh-oh-ohhhhhh!”

Mr. B’s Ballroom by Devo?

“Video Killed the Radio Star”?

Something by The Cars? Rick popped to mind when I read this.

Mr. B’s Ballroom sounded pretty close, but not quite it
Red Skies sounded close to with the “oh oh” part, but it was too slow of a song to be right.
Video Killed the radio Star is way too high-pitched though.
This is like, a really hard “game” isn’t it, if you consider it to be a game that is?

Bon Jovi’s “Living on a Prayer” has a part that sounds similar to that. Well, it says “oh” fairly often. It’s hard to imagine a tune to go with what you wrote, but that’s my best guess.

“Things Can Only Get Better” by Howard Jones?

Maybe it was the Greg Kihn Band, “The Break-Up Song”

Oh you all suck… its so obvious…

Its “TARZAN BOY” by Baltimora.

Here’s a snippet:

Night to night
Gimme the other, gimme the other
chance tonight
Gimme the other, gimme the other
Night to night
Gimme the other, gimme the other world

Whoa Oh Oh-oh-oh-oh whoa ooohhh

Slartibartfastt got it. That’s the song I was thinking of during the whole 6 hours i was tossing and turning in bed! Thanks everyone for the suggestions.

They just don’t write 'em like that anymore…

Just FYI: Greg Kihn now has a morning radio show in the SF Bay Area. He’s got some pretty wild stories from back in the day, as well as some obscure, but great bootleg-like recordings from his “personal stash”.
