I didn’t agree with 100% of what he said or how he says it but he made much better points that the typical newbie conservatives that come in here flailing around trying to connect. Those guys get sent home packing based on FACTS, you are trying to send this guy packing largely on a difference of opinion.
Sure some of his stuff is over the top and his posts (and thoughts) are disorganized but his central themes (when they are not confused by all the other shit he’s got floating around in his head) are things that people have argued on this board before.
He’s very much like that that “libertarian” guy (can’t remember his username) with his “Part 1 of 3” OP telling us how great Rand Paul is. His central theme is that we should stop trading with most of the countries in the world. People have been arguing about radical libertarian ideas here and they’ve been arguing about radical protectionism, too.
Actually, you’re right, a conservative would never do that. A republican who has strayed from one of the party’s foundational tenets would. And have. Do you really not get that conservatism is not synonymous with republicanism? Really? Don’t you realize that the Tea Party has taken hold for that very reason? If those two things were the same, there would be no need for them to come into being.
They want government to do more. They want people to be dependent on government. They want half the country to get a free ride, subsidized by the other half. They want an America that is decidedly unAmerican. And I mean that n a way that has zero to do with the whole immigration debate.
I do love my country and believe that the best thing for it is for Obama to be stopped and conservatism to come back stronger than ever. Both of which seem to be happening.
They always were there. They were the dupes of the conservatives, who failed the test not so much by betraying their ideology, but by aligning themselves with causes they have every reason to be ashamed of. But the temptation of power led them to use the cultural reactionary element of America to their ends.
And everybody saw it coming. Saw it for miles away, that the reactionary wing of the party would eventually get tired of promises. The conservatives could not deliver, social change hardly ever goes backward, but they kept rallying the troops, kept firing them up, once more into the breach, dear friends.
Notice how desperately the Republican Party is trying to get control, to direct the Tea Partiers wrath in a useful direction, how supple their spines have become.
The question isn’t really whether or not you want the left to lose, the question is what you are willing to give to have it so. Just so you don’t forget that if conservatives were truly in the majority in our beloved country, you wouldn’t have to make such tawdry alliances to win, now would you?
Huh? How is the Tea Party the dupes of the conservatives? They are the conservatives. Aside from that, you seem to think that the Tea Party is primarily concerned with social change. They’re not. Their reason for being is really fiscal. And smaller government in general.
You lost me on your last paragraph. I’ll have to ask you to rephrase.
I see that le lapin avec des cornes is still with us. I figured that by now s/he would have managed to get banned. Of course, if gonzo managed to avoid that fate I suppose anyone can…
You mean the forums where these guys twist my words to mean stuff I never, ever said, and then come here and call me stupid based on made-up bullshit? And if I return their verbal jabs in kind a MODERATOR comes along and says they can do it but I’m a jerk if I respond? No, I’m winding down, not winding up. This is NOT a straight dope forum. There may be some not so straight dopes here but this ain’t no straight dope.
I go through 90 minutes of work to cite all of my claims and then the same fuckturds who asked me for documentation don’t even read it… or can’t even read it. Why, I wonder? Because I don’t load 20 pages of cliff’s notes for their convenience? And then these same bright lights claim said documentation contradicts me when it never, ever does. And forget about pointing out these “contradictions”.
Bah.
As for hatred? I’ll reiterate. You have not seen hatred if you have a problem with how I express my feelings toward Conservatives. Go look at Europe. Notice how they express their disagreements by rioting? By protesting? By kidnapping CEOs and burning shit down? They gotta get the water cannons out every time there’s a G8, G10, G20 or another one of those economic summits. Hate? Incivility? You don’t even know the word. You’ll know hate when you see the Left disrupting infrastructure with balls to the walls strikes like what happens in France and Greece.
Liberals need to grow a pair. We need to be more like the Europeans. The leftists over there know how to party. They would have absolutely stormed the Tea Party. They don’t give a shit about platitudes like “don’t be a bigot”, they know how to take a stand for what they believe in and not give ground. They have the 30 hour work week and retirement at 62. And they have universal health care. The liberals in Europe know how to bring out the hate, and guess what? They hold the line far better than we do.
We try to get along and get our ever loving asses kicked. We let some uneducated gun toting hicks come out and intimidate us away from a Public Option - a mere SHADOW of what is available to the citizens of Europe.
We need more hate. More importantly we need more balls. Fine. You despise what I have to say. Hope you know how to grab your ankles in November.
Ya, ya, that’s right, they WANT people to be dependent, because democrats are evil and stupid, and conservatives WANT poor people to be killed and made into dog food.
It’s blanket, exaggerated statements like these that have gone some way to destroying the political process in the US.
It’s telling that a post that should have taken about 2 minutes to write, and a couple of cites that probably took about 3 seconds to find took the OP 90 minutes of hard labor to produce…
