Manhood, balls, anal rape, blah blah blah…
pikey pete, I think you’re confused. Le Jacquelope is a liberal.
This just in… you righties still can’t argue worth a damn.
I mean, really. Straight dope? You guys got the dope but the straight, well, let’s just say that you got a lot of work to do before you can claim that half of it.
I must say that Le Jacquelope is doing an excellent job of bringing together liberals and conservatives, revealing their shared values and uniting them in a common endeavor: namely, talking about what a frothing idiot he is.
I think he thinks we’re all right-wing, because we’re not left-wing enough for him. Nobody tell him about the Freep … he’ll have an aneuryism.
Not left-wing enough? No, the problem is the left lacks balls.
You got your asses epically kicked November 2. 700 statewide seats flipped Republican. Darwin is talking very loudly to you guys. This kinda whuppin’ doesn’t get scored by the Right in Europe because the Left over there knows how to make their case and stand up for what they believe in.
Where were you guys when the Tea Party was protesting universal health care? I was part of the counter protests against them… there weren’t many liberals out there. I guess that makes you not left-wing enough for me because at least I had the balls to confront these Tea Baggers face to face when they came into my town.
Sorry, my balls were at work, earning a living. In a state where there were, by my count, one Tea-Bagger rally that was attended by about 20 rednecks. I didn’t feel the need to counter-protest that little clam bake.
Facing balls is what tea bagging is all about.
Yeah, I’m definitely on the left, but that doesn’t mean I buy his economic theories.
kidchameleon wins the thread.
The thing is, I basically agree with your assessment of the Democrats. I know what they have to do and why they don’t do it. In fact there was a recent This American Life show which sets it out very clearly (Act Two in the linked podcast - I recommend it).
However, none of that changes my opinion that you’re an obnoxious jerk with some worrying personal issues.
 Don’t you realize that much of public policy is subjective. It’s not like gravity, it usually means balancing competing goods, or competing evils. Can you really be this fucking stupid.
No doubt your next response will be a resounding “YES. Fuck yeah!”
But don’t stop on my account. As an Independent on the Conservative side of the spectrum, I don’t mind it when someone with your political bent makes himself look like a complete moron. Keep up the good work.
Yes it does. Center right parties win in Europe all the time. The Conservatives are in power in Britain, Union for a Popular Movement in France, People’s Party/Christian Democratic Appeal in the Netherlands, Christian Democrats in Germany, People of Freedom in Italy, and in Greece, New Democracy is going to kick PASOK’s asses, because everyone is pissed off at PASOK for the austerity program.
A recipe for Democrats to achieve TOTAL failure…

In other words: Republicans are willing to STAND for what they believe in… ARGH.
To whom, an involuntarily celibate dickless loser like you? Oh, I’m hurt now. Please don’t call me a moron again. If you say it three times you might even convince yourself!
Oh and Captain Amazing, your ‘center right’ is our ‘far left’. Which one of those countries doesn’t have universal health care? And that austerity program you say the PASOK is gonna get whupped for? That’s a CONSERVATIVE move. That is going to bring upon itself horrible political consequences…
And not only that, but since it’s the left that is always agitating to change things in ways that Republicans disapprove of, it serves both parties well for the Democrats to compromise, because over the long run they’ll get more done just by virture of having thrown more stuff at the wall, and for Republicans to hold the line because if they compromise it will only lead to a quicker and more thorough move to the left. So actually things are being done about the best they can be, for either side.
This compromise is what killed the Public Option (UHC-lite) and is emboldening the right-wing savages to take a shot at eliminating health care reform by means of “de-funding”. We’re also looking at an attack on social security and unemployment extensions.
Sincere question for ya: How will compromise by the Left prevent that from happening?
It may not, but there’s always the next election, and the next, and the one after that. You guys have been trying to accomplish UHC for decades (ever wonder why, if it’s such a great idea, the American people have always been so resistent to it?) and no doubt you’ll keep it up in the future. But so far the American people are wise to the problems inherent in government run health care and they want no part of it.
Actually it is more like “the rest of the world is insane but American right wing savages are sane”.
The rest of the civilized world treats America’s health care system like a disease; no one wants to mimic this system. Everyone makes fun of and despises it.
The few, heavily sensationalized people who come here for care from abroad are now being matched by the number of Americans who leave America for “medical tourism” cheaper care overseas. That, and Sarah Palin’s own kids came to Canada for free health care. I guarantee you that just as surely as Sarah Palin went to Canada for care, many other Americans would go there if they could. That, and there’s a huge upswell of people wanting to get drugs from Canada, too.
It’s not that the right-wing savages here are wise to anything: it’s that they’re stubborn. And they, fortunately, stand alone in the civilized world.
To whatever extent that may be true, it means nothing. If they had grown up here they’d very likely prefer our system. People like and defend their own. There were people during the fall of the Soviet Union who preferred communism and were furious to see it fail.
And what’s all this talk about “savages”? Just because there are those of us who believe that people are happier and freer when the shots in their lives aren’t being called by government, or who don’t want themselves or their families to have to wait nine months for cancer treatment, that makes us savages? You been taking Der Trihs lessons or something?
It was not Sarah Palin’s kids, it was Sarah Palin when SHE was a kid, in the 60s.
You couldn’t do this anymore without having phony ID or something. Our health care is most assuredly not free. We pay for it, and you need proof of payment, in the form of a valid health card, to get it. Visitors can pay by cash, credit card, or private insurance.
