I have a serious question for you. Do you think it is possible to have a rational reason to disagree with the Public Option? Or do you believe that all those who oppose the Public Option are doing it just to screw the poor folks?

I believe that the opposition to the Public Option is based on the belief that the Government always screws everything up and Socialism is bad. Whether that’s rational or not, well, I leave that for you to decide.

Because they’re related. But that’s two. Fine. In your book, are those the only reasons? Sleestak was trying to find out (as far as I can tell) if you thought there were any good reasons. With a thick crayon you pointed to two supposed memes of the right. and let’s assume that those two reasons don’t hold up to scrutiny, are you aware of any reasons that are more legitimate in your book. Are you aware of, or can you fathom any, that make some degree of sense to you?

magellan01 is correct, I want to know if there is any reason to oppose the Public Option that you know of besides the two (actually one, because what you listed are two parts of the same argument) you listed. Can you think of ANY reason that a rational person might disagree with the public option?
Note, when I ask this I do not mean a reason you agree with, I mean a reason where you can understand the objection. There are many political stances I disagree with but I can understand the reason why those I disagree with hold those opinions. Take abortion for example. I am pretty much pro-choice* but I can understand the pro-life side. It does not mean I agree with it, but I do understand why they think they way they do.
If you can’t, well then you are just as ignorant of those you are bitching about. If you cannot understand the oppositions objections to a particular political stance then the only option left is to make wild ass accusations as your preferred method of dealing with those who disagree with you instead of having a rational argument.

I think it’s silly and pointless to ‘hate’ ‘Conservatives’…or ‘Liberals’ for that matter. I don’t hate either (nor do I hate YOU…though I’ll circle back to that in a minute). Because someone disagrees with you, or because they have a different philosophy than you do is not cause for hatred. If one were wise (and if one had even a inkling of intelligence), one would discuss the differences, to explore WHY some people hold a different world view, and, if necessary, politely agree to disagree if discussion is no longer possible on a given subject. Some of the people I most respect on this board are Liberal or Conservatives (well…as ‘Conservative’ as this board gets anyway). I respect them because they are interesting, not because of their political position, one way or the other.
That brings me back to you. You, I don’t respect. I don’t hate you, but I don’t respect you. The emotion that comes closest is that I despise you. Not because you are a Liberal (I’m sure many of the boards more intelligent Liberals cringe at the fact that you are nominally on their ‘side’), but because you are willfully ignorant on the subjects you have thus far chosen to weigh in on. That’s fine…ignorance is what this board is all about fighting after all. But you don’t WANT to be educated…you think (if I can use this word without butchering it too much wrt yourself) you know what you are talking about, and you are unwilling to listen to any other opinion than your own, even when your position is demonstrably idiotic. I posted those two arguments against the Public Option because they are the arguments that make some degree of sense to me.
You know, I was going to ask if you were dropped on your head as a baby. But obviously that’s not the most appropriate question. The more appropriate question is why did they call you “basketball”? Your parents must have sued the obstetrician who delivered you for wrongful birth, won, and then still taken out their anger on you.
I don’t see anything intimidating about doing so here. Well, I do see a lot of shrill angry voices but not anyone who is capable of any harm except to themselves. Of course Giraffe would probably get annoyed that I’d laugh when they do hurt themselves trying to think.
