I think we’re being too hard on the OP. Puberty, afterall, is a very difficult time. The pimples will go away eventually, Jack. And once the braces come off, you can smile all you want!
It’s called realizing that you don’t need any sort of arguments, you need a baby sitter.
And no, I didn’t expect you to actually address the examples I posted of SDers flailing around and making idiotic arguments they refused to own up to when they got busted with the facts. This is the BBQ pit after all, and your responses are pretty much totally predictable.
Newbie comes in, fists a-flailing. Thinks he’s got all the answers, and is going to educumate us poor, uninformed souls. Flames out in the Pit, mostly spurned by people on his own side.
I’m quite enjoying The Jackalope so far. He’s holding his own. A little over the top, sure, but he’s fighting fire with fire. Even if he hates Conservatives, he’s utilizing their techniques quite well.
He’s right about one thing … liberals in congress need to grow some balls.
“There was…no charity involved… We wanted to pay these wages so that business would be on a lasting foundation. We were building for the future. A low wage business is always insecure. The payment of $5 a day for an eight-hour day was one of the finest cost-cutting moves we ever made.”
I don’t recall you posting any cites in ‘debate’ with me, though I acknowledge that you have attempted to do so with others. Some of your claims, such as Chinese factory workers being able to afford the products they make are simply factually incorrect, so I don’t expect you to be able to provide a cite for them.
But what are proposing IS isolationism, whether you call it that or not. For instance, if you only add tariffs to goods imported from low-wage countries, what’s to stop UK or Canadian companies just importing from China, doing the minimum amount of ‘assembly’ to qualify it as made in the UK and them exporting to the US? Nothing, partial tariffs make no sense. The problem with this whole debate isn’t that everyone disagrees with you about off-shoring/out-sourcing being a problem, it’s that your solution is FUCKING STUPID.
See, I think you’re mixing up how I’d like to see Democrats act (i.e. maybe a tiny bit less like humongous pussies) and how I’d like to see liberal citizens act. I don’t expect Democrats to win political battles through reasonable dialogue alone. But the tactics that are unfortunately necessary to be successful in politics serve only to make one an obnoxious dick in regular society.
You may never convince a die-hard conservative of anything through reasonable factual discourse. But if one of you is yelling insults and being an ass and the other is explaining their position in clear, intelligent language, one of you is going to be a lot more successful in swaying observers to the discussion. Hint: it’s not usually the one who is acting like a huge douche.
