If you’d allow me to mention the war -
German car technology today is essentially where German tank technology was in 1944, with Tiger II tanks that could outgun anything in either front and couldn’t go 500 yards without breaking down. They’re so intent on perfection and on pushing the technological envelope that they’ve completely forgotten about efficiency and reliability.
chowder and Lust4Life - your chirpy, wacky Brit thing is fucking tiresome, and embarrassing.
This is not my experience with either Audi or Mercedes Benz. Add usual proviso: anecdote/data etc.

I never noticed the armour and caterpillar tracks before.
And you must be correct about the efficiency and reliability because no one buys German cars anymore, hence Germany is the worlds largest exporter, not per capita but by plain numbers.
They did it…what…once? Sure they got lucky but do they REALLY know how to inade Poland? They should try it tomorrow to see if it was a fluke.
Rough day eh?
Or have we problems at home that we can’t talk about?
chowder:
You were warned not to mention the war, but you just had to go ahead and do it, didn’t you? Did Manuel hit you in the head with a frying pan?
Fuck that, I hope they never leave. I love their style, odd as it may be sometimes.

If we can get back to the OP for a moment: I gave up struggling with wheel bolts years ago. Any VW aftermarket supplier can sell you a set of screw-in wheel studs, with nuts to match. Try http://www.cbperformance.com/catalog.asp?ProductID=686 , for instance. Put a couple drops of Loktite on the screw-in part and changing tires is no longer quite as much of a nightmare. Besides you can use safety nuts, (Like these: http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/search/?N=0&Nr=AND(wpn_tl_name:Auto+Body+Parts+%26+Mirrors,wpn_cat_name:Wheels,wpn_scat_name:Wheel+Lock+Set) ) which you get at any parts house, if you’re worried about someone stealing your tires.
