I believe Rupert Holmes is trying to revive REMEMBER WENN not for television but as a broadway musical.
It looked to me that it was the original release version, with the language edited as you mentioned, but not, IMO, cut for time or content.
AMC has blown it big time, IMO. I suppose they’ve gone to the acronym because no one working for a channel that shows Enemy Mine could call it American Movie Classics with a straight face. And the commercial breaks drive me potty, expecially since most of them just seem to be placeholders inserted to show would-be sponsors where they could buy time.
Include me as another Remember WENN fan! I too loved the show and its characters, and miss them a lot. Glad to hear Rupert is trying to revive it on Broadway, but I sure would like to see it on television again.
Anyone know if the series is avaialble on DVD or VHS?
Thanks
Quasi
I’ve only had AMC for a few months, so I’m not sure I understand the complaints. Did they used to show the movies without commercials?
Yeah, with NO commercials and at one time a much better selection of films and classier production values in general. They have sold out to the great satan. I went to amcfeedback. com and basically told them they sucked and why.
I did the same thing, there is no reason to watch AMC any longer. In fact I cannot think of a good reason to even keep cable. I watch less and less but pay more and more. Now that I have a DVD player, I may just get rid of cable altogether.
“And all those dreams come true, that never came to be”
Someone else remembers that show? I think I’ve got all the episodes on tape, but I’d buy that DVD in an instant.
But that was once upon a time, when they played whole movies, good movies. Movies that didn’t suck beyond belief as opposed to “Chain Reaction” with Keanu Reeves or “Hot Shots!”
There appears to be a ripple effect. Crappy, non-classics like Robocop 3 are supposed to have a home on Sci-Fi Channel. Now that AMC is co-opting that niche, Sci-Fi is forced to play more of its Z-grade made-in-Canada dreck.
Hear me now: show Enemy Mine and Predator 2 on Sci-Fi Channel. Show actual American movie classics on AMC. Show Z-grade movies nowhere.
i think that amc is not to blame themselves. i think (correction: i’m guessing) that when ted turner bought all of the warner bros. old movies rights, he gobbled up the majority of the catalog that amc was using and started hogging them for his own station. and, of course, amc can buy robocop cheaper than they can buy, say, the least known and most hated robert taylor movie from the 40’s because, let’s be real, who wants to see robocop? naturally, amc now sucks big time, but don’t be too rough on them. for a while, they WERE a classic. <sob>
