Hey, if you want to do the Will and Grace thing with me, I’m so there.
This is going to be my last post for a while-I’ve asked Tuba to put my account on hold for a while. That’s what I mean by sabbatical. But I want to at least let you guys know about it, before the big SABBATICAL appears under my name. (I know I’m too weak right now to avoid coming here!)
Honestly, you guys are right-I am depressed, avoiding life, and that’s not right. (I can’t disconnect the internet, as the whole family uses it, and I don’t pay for it myself-and please, no comments about my family paying for it, okay? That would be below the belt).
I went to the library today and got out some long, thick heavy old classics, which I plan on reading. Tomorrow, I’m going over to the mall and seeing if any little boutiques are hiring-right now, the want ads are pretty slim as I can see.
I probably won’t be back for a while-at least until I get my shit together. I won’t disappear online totally, so feel free to drop me an e-mail if you like, or hey, any hatemail. I get off on it. (I don’t just surf-I do a lot of research, including a biography site for the Karadjordjevic royals I’m working on, as well as some graphics and stories I’m writing.)
Wish me luck. Also, my great-aunt is coming to stay with us for Christmas, so that’s something.

Was just wondering where Quin had been off to, and just found this thread. Sure hope it isn’t locked… Anyway, if you’re reading this Guin, hope you’re doing well.
I like [LouisB’s** idea. Also, speaking from experience, not-for-profits are willing to hire people with brains, but questionable experience qualifications, but they don’t pay so well. This way, they get a smart person for cheap, and you get some experience that looks wonderful on a resume. Straight out of college, I was a job counselor for over 200 unemployed former Soviets. It paid less than a receptionist job, but had great benefits (including dental!), and gave me experience I never would have gotten anywhere else.
Also, a number of friends have completed degrees by working for a university in administrative jobs for relatively low pay, but free classes. Maybe you could get a teaching certificate that way?

Go volunteer if you are that bored enough to HATE everything.
There are a ton of opportunities to volunteer until you decide to get off your ass and get a job or whatever. At least you wont hate your life so damn much.

Well, sometimes tough “love” or comments are the best way to get people to wake up TVeblen. Lord knows I have had many over here in my past. It took people making me think in a somewhat harsh way and I am a better person because of it. I “aint” perfect by any means but sometimes a strong message is the best way to get people out of ruts.
Oh and Wikkit, I didn’t want to read the whole thread, I wanted to give her my thoughts not inspired by other people’s thoughts or comments. Had I caught this thread at the beginning, I would have said the same thing.
Ah, yes. Much better to duplicate other’s people posts in your own words than to have a reasoned and reasonable opinion.

I dunno, I also have to agree that it’s not in good form to simply read the OP and then offer advice (on page 3 no less) that has been said at least 5 times by different people (including yourself).
I could understand it if she was still here and still bitching, but she’s not.
