I Hate You!! Stop laughing at everything!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, that’s not creepy at all.

:stuck_out_tongue:

  1. I have looked through this thread.

  2. There are no pictures of the hot daughter.

  3. Please rectify this error.

Right, because whipping out the Nikon and having her pose for a few would definitely send the correct “leave me the fuck alone message”

:stuck_out_tongue:

Fixed.

I recommend that the OP read Thurber’s “The Catbird Seat” to glean strategic advice on what to do with objectionable loud cow-orkers.

enigm4tic, it is against the rules to alter text with attributed quote tags. Please don’t do it again.

Asking for clarification, not to challenge a mod ruling - Giraffe, it was pretty obvious he altered it for a joke. I assume that is still not cool?

Er, maybe you are just funny (looking?). Is she this hysterical with everyone?
Or she just smokes loads of pot.

I second the vote that Giraffe lighten up. What’s a rule worth if you can’t fly in it’s face every once and a while?

I worked with a lady at my last job that was like this. EVERYTHING must have been hilarious to her because her piercing howling laugh went on from the moment she entered the place to the moment she left. Luckily I was on the opposite shift, so our time only overlapped a bit.

The worst part is that she annoyed me so much that when I found out after I left that she had a horrible personal tragedy I thought to myself “I wonder if she was able to STFU and stop laughing through THAT?”

It wasn’t that she was that happy, it was like this weird attention getting device, I think. It was constant and it was unbelivably obnoxious.

erm, oops, sorry, I figured it was standard message board convention to know that when there’s a quote like that with the word “fixed” it’s intentionally a joke on the original quote, I won’t do it again if it’s a problem :frowning:

Like that pesky its/it’s rule?

Yeah, the rules are pretty strict with respect to attributed quotes. If I was supreme dictator, I would actually loosen the quoting rules considerably, but I’m not so I have to enforce them as written.

Note that I didn’t warn enigm4tic, but was just informing him/her of the rules so he/she wouldn’t run afoul of them/them again.

If I was supreme dictator, all jobs wouldn’t start until 10:00 am.

What can I say. I’m a rebel!

Him, for the record (or should I be true to my namesake and not reveal any information about myself :dubious: )

Just as an aside cause I think that produces some fairly funny jokes, what if I merely put the words in quotes, not the quote tag?

eg. “I make it clear I’m making fun of a quote
with the “fixed” line, or is that too close to the spirit if not the letter of the law?

What if you used the strikethough instead too? And kept it out of quote tags. Like the following:

< Start Example >

Giraffe: If I was supreme dictator, I would actually loosen [del]the quoting rules[/del] my bowels considerably.

There fixed that for ya.

< /End Example >

The rules are significantly looser for quotation marks than for quote tags. For example, you can paraphrase someone’s argument in quotation marks, whereas you can’t in quote tags. So as long as there’s something that indicates the words were altered (e.g. “fixed”), I think using quotation marks to make jokes like that is fine.

Edit: To be clear, that means I think both of the examples given by enigm4tic and Swallowed are OK.

If I was supreme dictator, I would step down and give the job to featherlou.
