I have 246 emails

flight I tried that once. Went from 10 a day to about 60 a day.

Even if some companies actually honour these links, many more just use the information as confirmation that the email address is in use.

Sux, but there you go.

flight, that was the dumbest thing I ever did. Good news was that experimented with my wife’s account and not my own.

flight, believe it or not there really is a Santa Claus, and Tooth Fairy, and Easter Bunny.

Personally, I use my ninja’s to take care of spammers.

See, I used to get “Make your penis an extra 3” longer". Like I need to double my size! But I got tired of deleting them every few days, so I clicked on their ad to try to track down an e-mail address.

A few days later, I noticed that instead of a few spams, I was now getting all of it. Really. All the spam, ever. For those of you that managed to get rid of yours, I can tell you where it went, what day it arrived, and how much it’ll cost you to watch Suzie swallow her Daddy’s juice. I appreciate the effort… all children should drink more juice, but the pictures tend to make me think they mean something else.

Anyways, I decided the only thing I could do was use my Ninja’s. See, I have this secret room… I keep an army of trained Ninja, and my WMD there.

My Ninja’s, after seeing the massive spam influx, all left, vanishing quietly. One did ask if he could print out the e-mail from that health nut Suzie before he left. I assume he’s going to commend her on her new juice drinking habit.

I’ll let you guys know when they get back.

You have 246 emails, Scylla?!? That definitely beats my record of 142 in about a day or so!

F_X

I somehow don’t get much spam. hmmm.

You should see my real mailbox though, holy shit. An entire shredded tree is delivered to my house daily in all different pretty colors.

Hmm… that just, only just beat my record of 12

I have Hotmail, and I have the junk mail filter set on high. I get anywhere from 20-40 junk mail messages a day IN ADDITION TO the 10-15 or so that still make it to my inbox daily.

And the junk mail companies are so sneaky it amazes me. I got an email that I thought was from my friend Laura S*****, because thats who it said it was from, and the subject said “hey!”. And when I opened it up, it was porn.

And on 2 seperate occasions, I got mail-bombed from a debt-free company. 1800 messages in 2 days the first time, 1400 in 2 days the second time.

I dream of the day I only get 246 emails per day at work…

We spam ourselves at work.

Since I use e-mail as my main mode of communication at work, I invested in a nifty commercial e-mail filter for about $20, and it works great (no sarcasm). You even have the option of reporting each spamlet to the sending IP. Or trying to, anyway; those spamming bastards are getting pretty tricky.

Anyway, I only get see about 20 spam e-mails a day in my In-box anymore.

I like how they seem to generate “From” addresses randomly based on your e-mail address, making it almost worthless to add them to your filter. The same e-mail will come tomorrow under a different address. What, do they think they’ll eventually wear you down enough to finally buy a look at Amber’s hot web cam, just so maybe they’ll quit sending e-mail?

And if you don’t know already, NEVER respond to spam, even to “unsuscribe.” Yeah. right. That just lets them know they have a live one.

Bastards.

Oh, and I don’t know if my wife is buying my protestations of innocence anymore when she asks why I’m getting so many ads for penis enlargers.

Tristan, I need to get me some of those ninjas.

Yeah, the only spam I get is the stuff from Yahoo! I get the feeling that they have such good filters not for their customer’s sake, but to maintain their monopoly.

And then there are people who send messages with incredibly vague subjects. If I don’t know who you are, it’s a good idea for the subject line to contain something that indicates that isn’t spam.

I do not get spam at work*. Know why? I do not! use my work email for anything except work. Some of my co-workers do. (Of course, I think this one guy got signed up for spam by someone else, he hasn’t figured out by whom.) I get all my spam in my hotmail account, which, trust me, doesn’t have a filter that works worth a damn, no matter what they say.

*not counting crap email sent by co-workers

Just be grateful you haven’t experienced cell phone spam yet. I used to get about 50 a day, setting my phone off every 5 minutes or so. And I got to pay for the privilege.

The world is a big annoying thing.

The same thing happened to me the day before yesterday. I usually average about 30 spams a day, but my inbox had 226 emails. I didn’t even know I could get that many with AOL’s mail!

I love Spam.
