I’ve only ever heard the term “Natty Lite”.
I picked the second because I know exactly what it is, but I don’t even like expensive beer so I’ve had no interest in cheap.
Grew up in the DC area (and live in the DC exurbs now), and I also assumed Natty Boh.
Yep, I’ve drank a lot of cheap beer but seeing as how those day were done within 10 miles of the Coors brewery most of my drinking was keystone since it was cheaper than dirt. That being said I’m sure some natty ice made it into my mouth besides the first one where I decided that there was a floor of cheap crap I couldn’t go below. I went with option 2.
Seriously, if your hankering for a mind altering cheap substance at least get Coors Original. It has flavor and is still less then a buck a beer.
Cite? Coors has flavor?
Heh, I guessed “natty” was slang for “nasty”. It appears I wasn’t too far off base.
About four years ago, I was at some lady’s house, and she offered me a beer. She came out with a Natural… I don’t know if it was Light or Ice, but had never had one before (I mostly like IPA, but I’ll drink a Coors Banquet once in a while, so I’m not what you’d call a “snob” about beer). Anyway, I took a swig and it was like a disgusting punch in the stomach. It was like drinking dog piss out of an ashtray. How is this stuff even a beer?
A Natty Ice buzz is akin to drinking straight whiskey as will your stomach the next morning
Same here…for years and years I drank a six pack of tall boys of Nati Ice a night (or more)…
…and now I have cirrhosis.
No more Nati for me.
Even after I read the spoiler I wasn’t sure. But then again I usually drink Rocks.
Natty refers to National Bohemian. Derived from the original Bohemian, the national Bohemian.
In fact
using my Trumpean counting skilz, the vote for National Bohemian versus Natural Anything is 406 to 3.
Add another to the “Natty Boh” vote.
Yeah, same here. There’s a really odd presumption behind the survey questions - either you’re unfamiliar with the beer, haven’t tried the beer but know the name, or have tried it and are a fan. Considering its… less than excellent reputation on everything other than price, I find the lack of ‘know what it is but am not a fan’ surprising.
I used to drink Natural Ice in college because I thought it was one of the better tasting of the cheap beers. I haven’t had it in quite a while.
So… I know what it is though I wouldn’t consider myself a fan.
Ahh, Natty Ice. The memories (or holes where memories should go) of university in the US.
When I actually saw the poll and the words “twelve pack” I knew exactly what you meant. Just reading “pack of natty” had me confusing it with the stuff Steve ate. As mentioned above, around here it’s “Natty Lite or Natty Ice”. I don’t know when it acquired that nickname; it wasn’t called that years ago when it was all I could afford. It does not taste good.
Another invisible vote for Natty Boh.
My cosmopolitan education ensured I understood the statement.
Here in Texas, the beers would be Pearl or Lone Star. Or maybe Buckhorn…
Washingtonian checking in and I thought the same thing.
I refuse to answer your poll because while I know exactly what you’re talking about, and have had it many times, I am not a fan.
My reaction to just the word “Natty” is waiting for you to finish your sentence: either Boh or Ice/Lite should be appended, lest the listener not know what level of horrendous hangover you’re offering.
