I got curious, so I looked up harmless.
Apparently there’s a poster out there going by Mostly Harmless.
Maybe I should change my sig to avoid confusion.

Of course, Mostly Harmless has all of 9 posts, 8 of them in Great Debates, and hasn’t been on the boards since 06-05-2003 so that might not be such a big risk.

I’m sure people have me and dangermom confused. Sometimes I get confused. Both moms, both readers (I think she’s more literary than I am - former librarian), I think we are approximately the same age, both are married to people who post here, we even have similar posting dates and post counts. Then I remember I’m not LDS.

Yeah, I do. I used to follow Kal’s posts a lot, and sometimes I see your name and get confused.

Roland Orzabal – I figured your name was some kind of reference, but didn’t know what, until yesterday I heard it on VH1 in an “I love the [something’s] show.” I had an “Aha!” moment (no, not the poster aha, just a general “Aha!”) when I realized that that had to be the source of your name.

There used to be a Vinnie Virginslayer around (kind of scared me :dubious: ) but I’m pretty sure I’m the only Spoiler here.

I was just glancing through the General Questions threads when I noticed a posting that appeared to be created under my member name. On closer examination I noticed that the user’s name was actually “Guy_Incognito” instead of “Guy Incognito”. Apparently this other “Guy” has been on the board since last June, so I must have missed his prior postings. Anyway, greetings “brother”!

Does anybody else on this board have a member name that closely resembles another member’s? If so, has it caused any complications or problems for you on the SDMB?

It was completely unintentional, though; for simplicity’s (read: unoriginality’s) sake, I used my juno.com (worst email provider ever) username - guy_incognito - which I’ve had since 1996, as my SDMB ID. Of course, it’s a Simpsons reference.
