A friend of mines has a 6 month old daughter thats truly one of the cutest babies I have ever seen. The problem is…
She NEVER cries…ever…no even once in a while!
Most people would think that this is a good thing, but it has me sort of worried. I would think that all babies should cry at least every once in a while to show their emotions, desires, or simply to exercise their lungs. Her baby seems to be very observant of everything and just sits there. She never whines, she never pouts, she never does anything that normal babies her age do…Is this a sign that there could be some kind of medical problem that is going unseen?
Wow. My wife and I have two kids and I can’t imagine a baby that never cries. That’s the only way they can tell you they need something, for crying out loud. :smack: If your friend takes the baby for regular checkups as she should, and has mentioned the no-cry behavior to the doc, then don’t worry about it, though.
The only caution that I would put forth if this is the case is that children need to learn that they must express themselves to get attention. A child whose every need is met before they “ask” will never learn to ask and will tend to be upset throughout life that other people do not instantly “understand” what they want and provide it.
(This is simply a cautionary note. Not knowing the parents or the child, I do not venture an opinion on the actual situation.)
we could analyse all different reasons for why she doesnt cry, but at the end of the day theres no real medical reason
Babies with diseases cry more often, so its probably personality related, so in terms of diseases, crying makes little to no difference, infact its probably better in that respect.
