I have failed to fight ignorance. Do I have to leave now?

A couple of co-workers and I were discussing the opening of a game store in the mall. The store primarily sells miniatures like Warhammer and the like. They both agreed that that these miniatures were evil and that neither of their kids would be allowed anywhere near that store. The likened the miniatures to D&D, which they said was responsible for suicides, sociopathic behaviour, etc. I wanted to tell them otherwise, as I am from a similar background yet have found that D&D is a great game despite all the negative “press” it gets in fundyland. but I didn’t. The conviction in their voices made me think that I would be wasting my breath so I didn’t even try.

I apologize.
Is the exit over there? It doesn’t seem to be marked.

::starts walking to the door at the end of the hall::

Don’t forget to leave your guild card.

A wise man does not try to teach a cow to sing.

No, not that way! That’s the-----doors opens and the screams/maniacal laughter of captured ignorants fills the hallway…dungeon.

somewhere, somehow, the echo of a duck’s quack is heard

I wouldn’t worry about it. What you were fighting in this instance wasn’t Ignorance, but Stupidity. Against Stupidity, the gods themselves contend in vain.

Why don’t you just cast a spell on them evilboy?

It’s taking longer than we thought. Now get back out there and try again.

Vlad/Igor

I only cast spells at level 4. I could smite them but I am not sure if they are evil and I can only do that once per day.

As opposed to the folks at PETA, who appear to have been successful in this endeavour.

I think we’re allowed to pick our battles. I save my energy for fights where I actually have a chance that the ignorant will listen.

But I don’t want you to go. :frowning:

Perhaps this thread will give you some solace. :stuck_out_tongue:
