As someone who has spent most of his life poor I know that all too well. Though I didn’t have a TV during some of my toughest times; for a few years there my version of bread and circuses was checking out books at the library to read. Which made things weird sometimes when I would talk with coworkers and they’d mention some TV show or movie or current event that I’d never heard of. I felt really out of touch with the world.
And I’m glad you got the TV, I had never heard of a TCL before picking one up for a price I could actually afford. Since then I’ve learned that it has a good reputation as a “budget TV” which is right up my alley. (Though I’m not poor, I spent enough time poor that I’ve learned how to bargain shop, it’s in my blood.)
