I Have Signed Up for Seattle Sutton's

I guess this could go into Mundane, but because it’s about food, I put it here.

I’ve been thinking about going on Seattle Sutton’s for awhile now, and yesterday, I signed up. I have experience with them, so I know what I’m getting into. This was back past the year 1999, but I’m happy with my choice to return.

I did it a little to lose weight and a little to manage my diabetes. But mostly, I just don’t want to work all day, ride the bus for three hours, and then come home to cooking and dishes.

It’s not Ms.Sutton’s company anymore. A couple of vegetarians own it now. But I was assured that meat eaters are welcome. A good thing, because I am of the omnivorous persuasion.

Discussion?

I’ve toyed with signing with them. Let us know how the food is. I get ya. It’s a drag to cook after a long day and a long commute.

I considered signing up as both a friend and a coworker had luck kicking off diets with their meals but I noticed that they have disappeared but a place called Power Plate Meals has shown up. I haven’t tried them simply because with work format and allergies, I’m never sure I can afford to start something I won’t be able to continue do to varying income.

What’s good about Seattle Sutton is you order week by week. No contract, and I think I will end up saving money because all the takeout I’ve been eating is expensive in itself. This plan I’m on works out to about eight bucks a meal. That’s what I normally spend on lunch with my employee discount.

Well, it’s been a week, and I’m picking up next week’s meals tonight.

As for the food, it’s as I expected. What I didn’t expect was the portion size. They are WAY small. Okay, I understand 1200 calorie weight loss. But this hits a little hard. I would say, I normally eat about three times the amount supplied.

There were some gustatory successes. The cod salad was memorably good. I liked the Tinga Taco, even though it was tofu chi’kin. I’m beginning to like having breakfast.

I’m going to stay on the 1200 calorie plan, just to see if I drop some poundage. Although, I have been eating extras. I’m not a fanatic.

Can you post a rough recipe for this? I’m having trouble visualizing a cod salad.

It was a small miso glazed cod fillet cut up on a bed of arugula with a poppy seed dressing. I think I was impressed by it because I wasn’t expecting a lot, but it was good.

That makes sense, thanks. I was picturing a mayo based salad like chicken, potato or tuna, or perhaps a ceviche which seemed weird for a box meal. Cod over greens went totally over my dimlit head!
