I have to buy xmas presents & plan a party for a bunch of kids......eeeeeeep!

I love finding really cool presents that people or kids dig.

It may be a present that they’ve never heard of but really like or even love after a bit.

I tend to give classic presents for kids. Blocks, handmade dolls, Silk Streamers, Ping pong ball catapult Admit it, you really want one right about now., marbles and just a big old empty box with markers and crayons. I try to not buy commericalized thingies because I view them as the death of imagination. I also try to give gifts for kids that force them to run around outside, but since this is winter, my usual favorite of Stomp Rockets is out or maybe not.

Well, I have the duty of buying the presents for our German American Shooting Club for Xmas. I don’t have the offical head count or ages for the kids, but I do have a $12-15 range per child. The only kids I know are my own and my neice and nephews.

For babies and toddlers, I haven’t even thought of anything yet. help.

For girls 4 and up (12ish. We don’t get many teens.) I was thinking of doing
a theme for all the girls of that age group: Folding Fairy Boxes $8.99 with a Mini Tea Set @ $4ish per and I can make a fairy that looks similar to this. ( I wrote the gushing review for this book.) I would get a box to contain all of this bringing it to about $3.00 for that, more or less.

If you were a little girl, what would you think? If you were the parent or grandparent, would you think this cheap or lazy having all the girls get the same thing with just variations on it. Every fairy would be different.
I am not sure of what I could do for the boys that would be equally imaginative and creative. I could make felt wallets and make soap with a hot wheel car in it ( which is always a big hit. And really isn’t costing the club anything as I have these supplies on hand and have no problem donating it for the cause.) But I need something with a little more UMMPHF and WOW factor.

I’m thinking Pirates or cowboys and indians…but coming up a little …meh…

ALSO I am in charge of the games for the Christmas Party.

I’ve decided on a pinata, which is always good for at least 20-30 minutes.

But, I am going to divide the kids up by age and do something for each group. In the past years…17 of them…the games have gone from utterly and completely sucky run by Old Germans who tend to shouting a mumbling command into the microphone for games that the TV driven kids of today don’t care for at all to a pinata and musical chairs, which are always a crowd pleaser.

I was thinking:

Musical Chairs

Bobbing for apples.
I need game suggestions! help!
