I Haven't Received My Absentee Ballot Yet

First a little background. I live in Detroit, MI. And as I said, I haven’t received any absentee ballot yet.

My cousin and his wife, who live in the relatively rich suburb of Grosse Pointe have already received it, and voted.

What gives? Is anyone else a little suspicious about this?

And I might as well ask. Is there anyone else, anywhere else in the country, who hasn’t received a ballot? Post your story. I certainly want to hear it.

When did they request theirs compared to you? Looks like you can track it online:

In Ohio ballots haven’t been finalized or printed yet, and won’t be until Oct 6, so I don’t expect to get mine until after Oct 6. If you recall the news from various states last week, Kanye West was out there just missing deadlines. So the deadlines to close state ballots were just last week or so.

I see on the Wayne County, MI elections web site that the Official Candidates List was last updated 9/10 so that was just a week ago. Ballots have to now be certified and printed.

Anyway, hang loose. It’s coming.

I don’t know when they requested theirs. But I requested mine almost as soon as I could.

Oregon is 100% vote by mail and AFAIK won’t send ballots for awhile yet.

Wasihngton also - most ballots do not get mailed in my county until October 14*. So, I’ve obviously not received mine yet.

What happened when you tracked your ballot?
Also - it looks like there isn’t even an official proposal list yet for your county. Are you sure they’ve already voted? I’m surprised that the ballots are printed, much less mailed.

*ballots for overseas, out of state, and military were mailed yesterday. They most likely will not receive them until at least Monday - laws of time/space & all.

I received mine today. I requested one from the county election website approximately a week and a half ago and I got it this morning.

What did it say when you checked with the Michigan Secretary of State site linked in the post you just replied to?

Here’s that link again… Your voter information

Arizona (at least Maricopa county) sends ballots out October 7.

Stan County, CA here. County clerk sent notice to entire county about a month ago, saying that ALL voting in this county will be done by mail-in ballots (that was the first I had heard that); and that ballots will be sent out first week in October. Also gave county web site to find locations of drop-boxes. I’ll be drop-boxing my ballot of course, instead of mailing it!

@Lance_Turbo I just checked, and they said it was mailed out yesterday (it is Sunday as I write this). BTW I feel compelled to point out, mail delivery isn’t that bad in Detroit. They’re struggling. But somehow they seem to be getting it done.

Got the email on Friday. Printed it out, filled in the little bubbles, scanned it, sent it, and then mailed the physical copy, according to the instructions.

I be done. I voted :us:

I haven’t gotten mine, yet, but i assume my state hasn’t mailed them yet.

Interesting how differently the states are handling this.

Colorado has been doing this for a few elections, and by state law the first day they can mail out ballots is, “Not sooner than 22 days before the election or the previous business day if the 22 day before the election falls on a holiday.” This year that’s October 9 since October 12 is Columbus Day.

Who did they vote for?

@Omar_Little Perfect pair. My cousin (who ironically may be an atheist) voted Republican. And his wife voted Democrat. (My cousin joked that their votes canceled each other out.)

I don’t know if anyone’s interested. But I still haven’t received my absentee ballot in Detroit yet.

I went back to the Michigan Secretary of State website. And they still maintain it was sent out September 19. So where is it?

In the hands of the USPS.

FINAL UPDATE: I just got my absentee ballot in the mail today, and I promptly voted.

My Michigan ballot didn’t even get mailed till yesterday.
