I could have sworn that Mr. FantsyPants was also a toy store owner in Canukistan, London area, IRC.
That’s fine by me!
Quasimodem, I grew up with my choice of the Madrid Monopoly, the Barcelona Monopoly and the Bilbao Monopoly. We wanted the Barcelona version because Mom’s from there so we actually know the locations, but whomever bought it for Lilbro got him the Madrid version.
Monopoly has been getting “localized” since it started being sold outside the US.
Hmmmm. I wonder if I need to re-think my position on the “clone” games or clarify it more?
I think if you live in Spain, Ventnor Avenue and the Reading Railroad aren’t going to hit “home” with you, so I am okay with naming streets and utilities, etc. befitting the region.
I guess what bothers me are the versions which are not “reality-based”?
Does that make sense?
Thanks
