They are currently running ads on TV for the big special at McDonalds - 20 chicken McNuggets for “only” $4.99.
Seriously? Isn’t that the price of an entire chicken at any grocery store?
Personally, I used to like the cheapo milk shakes at McDonalds - and yes, having worked at a McDonalds I know it is just a bag of powder and water dumped into a machine.
Now they have gotten all fancy ass with the stupid whipped cream and cherry and suddenly the price skyrockets for smaller amount that simply tastes even more watered down.
Baskin Robbins was never the place to get a good milk shake - was always way over-priced and not particularly worth it. In my old hometown, we used to have some great drive-in restaurants (family owned, non-chain) that would make really good shakes for a fair price - but sadly they all went out of business when the big name chains started to hit town.
And yes, Steak And Shakes “happy hours” of half price shakes makes it probably one of the best deals for any good shake at a decent price. Dairy Queen is not horrible - but not the real deal either…but you can still get a fairly decent shake there for the money.

Yesterday I went to a Wendy’s and all the items on the Value Menu were $1.30 or more – some were $1.80. But this was on the beach where there’s presumably higher rent. So I went next door and got two slices of pizza for $7.50. But they are New York Style – flat and huge – so the two slices were almost as big as most places mediums.
