I agree. I’ve been telling all my friends and family(who are glad gas is going down) that the correct price of gas should be(with inflation) around $1.25 a gallon. They look at me like I’m crazy, as if gas has never been this cheap in the past 5 years.
we’re still in the $2.30 range in southern Maine and coastal New Hampshire, but i won’t consider gas prices “cheap” until it’s back below $1.50/gal (yes, yes, i know, probably never going to be that low again, but that’s my official “stop griping about prices” number…)
But…but…what about the petroleum refining facilities in NO that were out of commission? No nice, fresh gasoline coming out of NO, they said. Why is the price lower than it was before Katrina? Where’s it coming from?
Well, you folks jinxed us in the Cleveland area… last night gas in my neck of the woods went from $2.01 a gallon to anywhere from $2.19 to $2.25 a gallon…
Well, let’s not forget that Katrina was almost 10 weeks ago. Because they’re dealing with flammable substances, oil refineries are built to be easily repaired (“easy” as opposed to rebuilding a microchip factory or an automobile plant).
