Indyellen, now that you mention it, L’engle was probably the unconscious inspiration for Zyll’s name, even though he is a boy. A Swiftly Tilting Planet has always been one of my favorite books ever.

Got another one…this cracks me up.
A bit of explanation: we recently moved into a 3 bedroom house from a 1 bedroom apartment, but the addition of two slob roomates leaves us with less space than we had before. Currently, all the extra stuff (and I am sure there are some essential items buried here, too) is piled rather haphazardly in the corner of our bonus room.
Zyll weighs 14 pounds. He was stocky in the first place, and since we had him fixed, he’s just gotten fatter. I mean, the cat has rolls. It took him 7 minutes to get up here.
His weight and the fact that he’s over 3 feet from his nose to the end of his tail should give you some idea of how big the pile is.
Out of curiousity, do you ever get to sit on your couch? 'Cause Majyk and and that gray and white furbeast on the left look like they might disembowel you if you tried…
