I had a feeling that no matter what, the Tigers were going to win the NCAA football championship game, and I was right!
Aw, crap! I was really rooting for the Tigers! 
For that matter, I was equally certain the Tigers would lose. Called it!
(Thinking about this last night, I realized that just under half - 42% - of SEC teams are either “Tigers” or “Bulldogs”. Weird.)
I think it’s closer to 36%.
The Tigers didn’t have a shot this season. There were too many better teams. Heck, they couldn’t even win the Outback Bowl.
How many leagues or conferences have teams with the same names/nicknames that play each other? Certainly it can happen in college but how about the pros? I know for a time the CFL had two teams called the Roughriders although I think they were spelled differently. MLB has the Red Sox/White Sox and the Red Soxs/Reds.
When the ABA merged into the NBA, the Denver Rockets had to change their name to Nuggets. It would be too confusing, especially in the NFL as a lot of sports betting refers to the teams by their nicknames in order to differentiate them from college teams (e.g. “Miami” could refer to the Dolphins and the Hurricanes, so usually “Miami” refers to the college, and the NFL team is called “Dolphins”).
I’m an Aggie, and having watched my team play both Clemson and LSU, I had no doubt about the eventual outcome.
The SEC West has the Auburn Tigers and the LSU Tigers who play each other every year in every sport. Pretty sure the pro leagues prohibit identical names.
And actually more confusingly, that division of the SEC has Texas A&M and Mississippi State who have the same exact uniform colors. They often resort to having special alternate uniforms for that game to reduce confusion.
When the Missouri Tigers host South Carolina (or vice-versa) the game’s always in Columbia!
Tigers: Louisiana State, Auburn, Missouri.
Bulldogs: Georgia, Mississippi State.

In the 2017 Music City bowl, I totally called it that the Wildcats would win.
I predicted that the championship trophy would wind up in Death Valley. So there!
Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Kentucky, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Alabama, Auburn, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Missouri, Louisiana State…
…and Texas A&M and Arkansas.
