I just love it when someone kills a legislator!!

You withdraw because you can not defend yourself. Put your dukes up, chortlepup. Fight like the liberated man you are!

I withdraw because you bore me. It’s like arguing with a five year old.

Are you one of those people who claims that “guns are the biggest threat to our children” when more kids are killed in bicycle accidents or drown in swimming pools?

And by the way, you are not “pacifically obstructing” someone if you are using a gun. There’s nothing at all pacifical about threatening to shoot someone if they don’t stay put.

You don’t perceive a maybe subtle little difference between a bicycle and a handgun?

If you’re careless with either one, very bad things can happen. That, and that more kids (people 18 years old or less) are killed in bike accidents than gun accidents. Guns don’t shoot by themselves. Carelessness and ignorance are the problems, not guns’ existence. Guns are just hunks of metal-tools, really-designed for a specific purpose. Banning guns because kids could get hurt is like banning chocolate because it can make people fat. Wouldn’t it be simpler to just TEACH people to not play with guns or eat chocolate?

Everyday I thank god we have a Constitution to settle these arguments. Frankly, I can do without the government telling me how to run my life for the most part. Teaching my kids how to handle my own guns is my responsibility. Everyone else’s kids are THEIR responsibility; not the governments, and not mine. I don’t need the government or people like you telling me what I can do in my own home just because OTHER people are too stupid to keep deadly weapons away from children.

Hum, kid with irresponsible parent finds parent’s gun. Takes it to school. Accidently shoots YOUR kid. Not all that uncommon. Of course you taught your kid to be responsible…but that wouldn’t help him here. Just thinking outloud…

Sounds good. Ought to get your own water and electricity, too.

http://www.korpios.org/resurgent/L-gunskill.htm

That’s easy enough to solve. Just go shoot the irresponsible parents. They deserve it.

Sorry. That was uncalled for. I watched my fourth grade English teacher get killed. I was in the front row. 38 pistol. I have strong feelings about it.

Hmm. So lets ban bleach because a kid might find it and drink it. Lets ban plastic bags, because some kid might find one and suffocate. Lets ban pools, because some kid might fall in one and drown.

And don’t let media sensationalism fool you. It really isn’t all that common.

As for your fourth grade teacher Chronolicht, tough shit. My dad was run over by a car, but I don’t go around crusading against the products of the evil Ford Motor Company.
I stand by what I said before. Guns are amoral things. They are only as “bad” or “good” as the people who use them. A gun by itself would never hurt anyone. It would quietly rust to pieces.

You are fearful or simple or both, but definitely a mean spirited son of a bitch.

George Bush: Not A Crackhead Anymore

Chronolicht, in previous threads you’ve admitted to repeated instances of snorting cocaine and of driving drunk, so why does the same past behavior of George W. Bush incense you so much?

Ah, Chronolicht. Just keep posting, and soon you’ll have that Jack Dean Tyler lunatic-of-the-month trophy locked up.

Do I hear a second?

This Man is my fucking HERO!!!

Strong changes in the system require strong words and opinions. I say, declare this man Emperor of the US! The public can and will hold him back from going too far over the edge, and his big swingin’ brass balls will put some freakin’ thought back into this country.

God Bless America!

I dunno…I’m going to campaign for [g]grienspace**

It would be a close race…

dammit! preview, preview, preview…

Oh, and SCRIMMY, this guy crossed the line when he first opened his mouth.

There’s a difference between “strong” opinions and loony ones.

Killing cops because they want to put people in jail? C’mon…we’ve got it lucky.

Okay, the drug laws are unfair. The “war” against drugs isn’t working. But if someone is trying to break into your house, who are you gonna call? Mommy?

Regarding bicycles vs guns.
I have had little success in locating the statistics on the number of guns vs the number of bicycles, the rate of injury when precautions are used (helmets or gun locks), and the actual death and injury rates for bicycles.

I did find that motor vehicles are the leading cause of death in children, ages 0-14. (Source: NHTSA Traffic Safety facts)

Obviously we can’t reduce speed limits or ban cars.
But it is questionable as to whether we are as dependant on guns as we are on cars.

Still looking for bike death statistics.

Hey, Chrono, you’re making my side look ridiculous. Quit it.

Oh, and lay off waterj2. He’s far, far better at this debating stuff than you, and is a really good guy to boot.

(I know you can take care of yourself, water, but I wanted to offer some cross-party support. grin)

I don’t agree with the content (entirely) of this man’s statements. I just admire this guy’s stones. Here’s a guy who wants his opinions heard, because they aren’t safe opinions. I am thankful for the law enforcement our country has. I am not thankful for the attitude our law enforcement has been known to exhibit. Neither is he. But this guy ain’t Dr. Dre; This guy is an elected official.

I can’t help but respect the guts it takes for someone in his position to stand behind his whacked-out opinion. I’ve always found it a little unfair that the pissed-as-hell minority just doesn’t get heard. And I don’t mean the folks who throw a fit about morality or something like that. I’m talking about the guys who want to stir up some shit and jostle this country from it’s slow and steady course. We need a spokesperson who’s got a bit more clout that Zak De La Rocha or Jello Biafra

Ah. Found some bicycle death statistics.
It appears the claims above are quite inaccurate.

225 children 0-14 died in bike related crashes in 1997 (200 of those deaths due to a motor vehicle, helmet use not factored in).

629 children 0-14 were killed by guns. (NCHS, 1997) This factoid actually drawn from an anti-gun control site.

It has been noted that deaths have been lower in recent years (but then, so has gun ownership).
