I gave myself a manicure and pedicure this morning, and my three-year-old son is always fascinated by that. My SO told him, “No! You don’t get your nails painted!”
So the SO went off to work, and I painted my son’s fingernails purple. (Actually, a sort of plum shade.) Turns out, he has very pretty hands, when his fingernails are painted. And he’s so proud of his pretty fingernails. He wanted me to paint his toes too, but I don’t really want to deal with his gnarly little feet tonight.
I’m gonna get bitched out when the SO gets home. But I’ll bet he ends up laughing about it. And my happy little boy has very pretty purple fingernails.
Aw, let him enjoy his pretty fingernails. My 14 year old has recently started painting his nails–and I don’t mean macho/emo/punk colors like black, either, I mean pale lustery pink.
He seems okay with it, I’m okay with it.
When they were younger my kids loved to have their nails painted too. It IS a nice feeling–I still have my mom paint mine sometimes, just because it feels so much cooler to have someone else do it.
Best,
karol
Is that a new trend for teen boys? My teenaged step-daughters are all into black or green or neon blue nails, but I’ve not noticed their boyfriends wearing any at all. Sounds kind of cool, to me. Maybe my tot is just a little trendsetter… Or a future cross-dresser.
At least I didn’t paint the baby’s nails, too. I thought, pink would look so cute on those little baby hands, but he’ll just chew it off, and that can’t be good for him.
Well when I was a teenager,I got these weird white spots all over my nails.Looked like something was burrowing into me.So a dab of nail varnish and they looked back to normal again and no-one was any the wiser.
Iceland-I think white spots on your nails are usually a sign of malnutrition, or a vitamin deficency. (I know I butchered that spelling).
Either that or fungus.
When my cousin and I were little, we would always get our nails painted by our moms and aunts, and her little brother always wanted his done too. So whoever was painting our nails would give him little dots on his. His father just laughed about it-and my uncle’s a pretty macho type of guy. (Although he has dressed in drag at various Halloween parties…hmmmm)
