I bought it this morning while I was at the store getting last-minute Thanksgiving necessities. It is an off-brand (I usually drink Bailey’s), but it was the only kind they carried at the little grocery store here (we’re staying at my grandma’s).
I was so looking forward to winding down from a hard day of stuffing my face with a healthy glass of creamy Irish deliciousness. But when I twisted the bottle open and went to pour, only a vaguely clear trickle of fluid came out, with a few pale chunks of something in it. I sniffed the bottle, and it smelled like Irish Cream.
I shook it like crazy and tried again. I could hear some sort of sloshing, but when I tried to pour it again, it was just another trickle of clear spooge with a couple of white chunks.
I wonder how long it had been sitting on the store shelf.
What did the consistency end up being? How long/hard did you have to shake it? If a paint-mixer is required and/or I have to chew what is in my glass, I’ll probably pass.
Interesting scary-fact from that same page: 1.5 oz of I.C. has over four hundred calories. That’s almost 150 calories per TABLESPOON. I wouldn’t have believed a liquid that calorie-dense was possible: a cup of pure sugar has about 700 calories, this stuff would have 2100+.
It would almost have to be a typo, no? A google search for “baileys irish cream nutrition” gives a wide range of values, from about 90 calories in 37 ml (1.3 oz) to the 403 that the Bailey’s site gives. Anyone got a calorimeter and some time?
Guess I’ll just have to water it down with a little hazelnut liquour. (Can’t spell it.) What is the name of it? The bottle looks a little like a monk…
Mix with Bailey’s half and half on the rocks and it will still satisfy your cravings for sweet alcohol. I think it’s called A Nutty Irishman. Frangelico. That’s the hazelnut part.

Which (currently) says that “Baileys Original Irish Cream has 314Kcal per 100ml”
100ml = 3.4 oz (as we all know by now from the TSA)
So an entire shot of 1.5 US OZ = 140 calories.
Also, if you still have some Irish Cream from 2008, please discard it.
