I just want to send this CD to flash drive

I have the memory. The disc is a backup. I want to make a digital backup and send it to my friend, plus have it on thumb drive, but apparently this isn’t so easy.

How do I manage to simply send the data on the E (CD) drive onto the space on the F (SSD) drive?

The simplest way is to open up Windows explorer, right click the E: drive, select ‘copy’.

Then right click the F: drive, and click paste. That should copy every thing.

When I thought I tried that it just copied the titles but not the content. I’ll look again.

This will not always work. If the E drive contains super-hidden system files, Windows will not be able to copy these and halt.

Instead open E drive and hit Ctrl-A to select all, then copy and paste. The super hidden system files won’t be selected that way and the copy process will go through with no problems.

You might use ImgBurn to make an image of the disc.

Are you talking about a music CD or data files? Because if it’s the former, then you cannot simply copy titles from CD to other drives. In this case, you either have to create an image of the CD as mentioned in a post above, or rip the music titles to a file format the OS can work with, e. g. mp3. There are loads of tools that do this job; for example most burning software can do it.

That wasn’t very nice. The software runs a scary system crash simulation, or else tries to crash a system and mine dodged it. Reported.

I don’t know what you downloaded, but Imgburn is extremely well-known, well-respected and widely used freeware. I use it constantly.

I clicked the link, my system froze with a loud noise and a countdown of some kind of “data-offloading”, and an admonition to contact my service desk or some other. I had to physically yank the battery out of my machine to re-boot.

IOW, it didn’t answer the question AFAIAC.

The problem is on your end.

Imgburn is a great tool. Since you haven’t told us the contents of the CD, it’s impossible to offer a specific answer.

Maybe it is on my end. All I know is I got trouble when I clicked the second link and followed the instructions. Not trying to cause trouble.
The CD is Franz Liszt Annees de Pelerinage vol 1. I recommend you guys listen to at least the first track, but the whole thing is pretty impressive.

Flash drives have got so big that now I could back up my entire library of CDs onto a tiny little thing. That’d be cool, I could have all my music in my pocket without having to buy an ipod or what have you. I’ll try the recommended company again later and see if it works for me.

Audio CDs are encoded and will not copy like regular files. You will have to use some sort of extractor (usually bundled with a converter for CD > MP3 or CD > Ogg conversion) to get files out of an audio CD with Windows.

I can highly recommend EAC for ripping a CD, especially if you want an absolutely perfect, lossless rip. (note: It’s a bit technical but it does walk you through)

If you’re less fussy, try fre:ac or CDex. They are reviewed here.

Apology accepted.
