I just watched Galactica 1980 on DVD...

You think maybe there was a reason you had never heard of it? I lived thru those years… I still bear the scars…the night terrors… The only way I’ve learned to cope was to believe that it was all a bad dream - yep to deny its very existance.

Thanks for ruining years of repression.
(:D)

Logan’s Run, the TV series - yep - right there on the checklist - only good thing about it was deciding to find and read the book the original was based on.

I was hoping the disks would have some kind of MST3K-type audio commentary on them. I also have TOS in my queue.

Oh, man … I’m sorry, man … dude, I … I didn’t know, dude. I didn’t know! I DIDN’T KNOW! I’M SORRY, MAN! I’M SORRY!

<flee in tearful shame>

<return briefly in trepidation>

Are there any shows that actually DO have MST3K-style self-deprecating commentary? That would be supremely cool.

Hah! Beat you by 2 minutes.

Foiled again! I’ll get you John Mace, I’ll get you!

Although the new BSG strictly rations nods to the original show (the pilot and the recent Razor movie being major exceptions), there’s one I’d like to see: the two Adamas are going through a crate of old belongings that got put into storage when William Adama first took command, and they pull out a Daggit™ doll. It’s computerized like one of those walking barking dog dolls, and Adama Sr. comments on how after the first Cylon war they were banned since nothing mobile, even toys, was allowed to be controlled by a computer chip anymore.

And then the Daggit™ doll shows why by animating, and with an electronic shriek latches onto one of their faces like a facehugger from the Aliens movies.

When you watched Galatica 1980, did they play Beethoven music too?

The thing I hated most about it is that they made the galactica crew so socially cluless when dealing with “mere earthers”. Not knowing the culture is one thing, not knowing how “people” act is just idiocy.

There’s Mike Nelson’s RiffTrax but that’s not quite the same thing.

And damn you people, I think I feel some long-repressed memories trying to break through!

I have this sudden urge to commit ultraviolent acts and drink milk.

Oh, and I should have added: “from that show you used to watch when you were a kid.”

Or speaking perfect American English except for random words dealing with technology (I wonder the teams sent to the USSR speak). I’ll admit it was a little fun to see Andromus again. Did Larson have plans to introduce humanoid Cylons in TOS if it got renewed? I know the flying motorcycles for meant for the series.

Happy New Years! May all your wishes come true.

Ooh, it even has the US Army Military Intelligence branch insignia on it. I served with them, and have some originals.

Wow! That may have to be purchased before my dining room chairs, Thanks!

No problem. There’s better copies than that available with just a little shopping; that was what turned up in a Google.

I have no idea what your budget looks like, nor the depths of your fandom, but it seems to me that your jacket would look great with these.

I think it would be funnier if it latched onto his crotch instead. Crotch is always funny.

Of course, the big question is how does BSG: '80 compare to The Star Wars Holiday Special, just the special, not the Rifftrax commentary that vastly improves it, just the show

I’d hazard a guess that TSWHS is worse than BSG: '80, because BSG '80 DOES NOT HAVE FIFTEEN MINUTES OF UN-SUBTITLED WOOKIE-ESE

fifteen minutes of walking carpets growling and grunting, culminating in the worst variety show acts imaginable

TSWHS makes Manos; The Hands of Fate look like Shakespeare

but since I’m a fan of bad movies, I’ll eventually have to see G: '80 just to see how bad it is…
