I keep eating alot, why?

I have been eating way too much but I feel like I cannot stop? I have had a stressful few months, work new two jobs I got recently7 days a week I’m also active, cycle 10 miles a day and supporting a household plus worrying about moving out, how can I stop this?

What are you eating? Are you burning it off, or are you gaining weight?

Are you hungry?
Emotional eating?
Gaining or losing weight?
Excessive thirst?

I eat lots of fruit my wife prepares, usually grapes bananas apples and oranges, two yoghurts for work, then chicken and chips for lunch and when I get home two pieces of chicken thighs then some watermelon pieces later that night.

But I keep snacking every day and it’s driving me crazy

I’d say my weights stable but I’m trying to lose weight while highly stressed.

Am I the only one who noticed that the OP’s avatar looks like it just might actually be someone eating an alot?

Fruit is great. Especially because it fills you up and prevents you from eating junk. I’d say eat as much fruit as you want. IMO, 3 reasonably-sized balanced meals plus as much fruit as you want is a quite healthy diet.

I’m the opposite, most fruits don’t fill me up. I do better snacking on lean meat like chicken breasts.

Lots of sugar in fruit. I’d get my glucose checked if I were you.

Are you drinking sodas?

Beck is right. Get your blood glucose checked.

If that comes back okay, do some reading about the Glycemic Index of foods. You’ll learn why some foods satify hunger, and other foods leave you more hungry after you’ve eaten them.

Drink water. At least eight 8-ounce glasses a day. Coffee, tea, soda, soft drinks, and beer don’t count towards that quota.

Good luck. Stress eating is the WORST.

Certainly be in touch with a medical professional as to why.

When you are snacky but not really hungry - A big pickle is very satisfying when you take small bites… A sippable soup like tomato or squash or some chicken bouillon is very satisfying. Add some dried chives or parsley sometimes. Sunflower seeds in the shell take a long time to eat a little. The crunch is satisfying when you want to get out a little stress.

A big mug of herbal tea is soothing, too.

You can see I am a salt fiend.

When you say your wife “prepares” fruit, what exactly does that entail? Get out some apples? Slice some pears & peel some oranges? Or douse a quart of strawberries in 2 cups of sugar and you wolf the whole thing?

The things you say you eat as meals are reasonable. But you don’t say what you are snacking on, nor how much. That’s probably key info.

Then maybe you’re just eating what you need to eat.

Your description doesn’t sound like all that much food to me, not for an active person. Are you sure your idea of how much you should eat isn’t unrealistically low?

You really don’t need that much water to be healthy unless you are sweating it off; drink when you feel you want to, your body knows what it needs. All those liquids supply water to your body, not as much as plain water, but not none. Caffeine is only a very mild diuretic in large quantities, not usually enough overcome the benefit of the fluid it came in.

Is it though? I mean, certainly fruit should be a part of a healthy diet. But, fruit has loads of sugar. I am not sure it is something to be snacked on as much as you want.

No, you’re not the only one. I understand that an alot tastes a little like chicken …

I like Alot

He cute. alot.

I occasionally get this thing where my appetite just runs out of control. I have no idea why or how it happens, but it sneaks up on me and suddenly I am just hungry ALL the time. The hunger is really uncomfortable.

The best way I have found to combat it is just to go on a 24 hour fast. I drink water, and plain tea, but nothing else. In the old days, migraines made this happen on a fairly regular basis. But now that those are under control I have to do it consciously. In fact, I just did one last Friday.

Just 24 hours without food resets the appetite and brings it back under control. YMMV, of course, but if it’s bothering you, this is worth a try. As long as you keep yourself occupied it’s not terribly difficult to do.
