I know some CDs are scarce, but this is ridiculous!

I’ve been listening to “I Do The Rock” by Tim Curry, from my 45. I used to have the “Fearless” album, but somebody stole it back in 1981. So I was moved to go look for it on the net. I learned that none of his albums have ever been available on CD. I did find a near-mint copy of the album, though, for less than $10 (woo!). I also found a mint “Fearless” promo 3-track 12" EP from England (mega-scarce) for $31.

But there is a Best Of Tim Curry CD that came out in 1989. This is the first time I have ever been unable to locate a copy of anything, anywhere, except for an indie CD someone here was asking about not long ago. This Best Of CD is not available at any dealer on gemm.com, from amazon, cdplus.ca, hmv.ca, eBay or half.com! That’s just about unthinkable!

Does anybody know of any other internet resources to find such an animal?

“Me, I’m oilin’ up my dance machine
and it goes like this…and it goes like this…”

No help with the whole CD, but if you just want “I Do The Rock” it’s available on CD on Just Can’t Get Enough - New Wave Hits of the 80s, Vol.1 at a cheap price, and it’s readily available.

I’ve spent some time since yesterday looking all over the web for the Best Of CD, and today there’s a new listing on amazon. For $169.99!!! It isn’t in print anywhere in the world, not even Japan, where they’ve issued everything ever recorded by anybody with a recording contract! This is realy bizarre. I have an old friend in Canada who owns a copy, but I’m pretty sure he won’t part with it.

Bummer.

Thanks a lot, Reeder. I’ve heard that CD, and it’s a pretty poor transfer from vinyl, with clicks and pops and noise reduction artifacts. Despite what the seller says about it being a “Tim Curry Fan Club release, never sold through regular music stores”, it has never been officially issued on CD. I’ve already got a near-mint copy of the album on the way, and when it gets here I’ll declick and denoise it myself and make my own!

I appreciate your looking up the listings for me. According to Rocky Horror Show collectors’ sites, the Tim Curry Best Of CD has been out of print since 1993 and is nearly impossible to find. I’m kicking myself now for all the times I saw it in the store and never picked it up.
