I know what I bargained for, and this ain't the deal

If there is a situation which makes you want to say “I know what I bargained for, and this ain’t the deal” or something similar, do you think there is anything else you could say as an alternative?

Probably going to need more details. I smell storytime in the OP.

“You’re giving me the old bait and switch!”

Life. Don’t talk to me about life.

I wanted to buy the mine, but all I got was the shaft.

This isn’t what I signed on for

Apparently, there has been a misapprehension…

Take it up with my union rep.

I’m not even supposed to be here today!

Nobody told me there were going to be days like these. Strange days, indeed.

Of course, what you do not want to hear in response to any of these is “I am altering the deal. Pray I don’t alter it further.”

It was my understanding that there would be no math.

You said this wouldn’t be in the test.

I was told there’d be cake.

I came back. I did not bring pie.

Does spelling count?

Why, ain’t that the cow you bought ?

wait, what?

I was told there’d be punch and pie . . .

But I don’t wanna be a cowboy!
