Do you have to hijack a thread to prove it? Crikey–how interesting can it possibly be to keep telling one another how bad the other person is? Why must you do it in the middle of other threads? If you want to pit someone, can’t you figure out how to start your own thread to do it?

It’s a Pit thread, not a GD thread. IMO one is not entitled to complain when one’s Pit thread turns into a name-calling flame-fest. Because it’s kind of a “given” that that’s what Pit threads do.
Besides, I’m, like, “Huh?” You’re trying to have a serious, sensible discussion of what DeLay may or may not have meant? In a Pit thread? That you started solely in order to Pit him? And now you’re upset that it turned ugly and personal?
Perhaps you’re missing the posts in which that discussion was happening, among myself, John Mace, Hamlet, Shodan, Bricker, and others. It’s an interesting question, but it’s also an interesting question about pittable behavior on DeLay’s part.
Unclebeer started off posting on-topic (albeit making absurd demands and then questioning my integrity when I didn’t comply), but ended up engaging in the slapfest with others; thus his inclusion in this pitting.
No, I didn’t miss the discussion, I saw it. But…you don’t know how to ignore the children squabbling in the background while you discuss Politics? You feel a need to keep your entire thread on-topic?
I have yet to see a Pit thread that didn’t have some kind of off-topic muttering going on at the same time as the discussion of the OP.
No, Left Hand of Dorkness is right, Unclebeer’s stupidity (and that of others) is definitely pitworthy. There are only so many ways you can say, “I hate you, and what you stand for, and I am going to hijack a topic about a legitimate complaint.” Personally, if he posts here again, I will just not pay attention. I will still be able to read it, but my eyes will skip past his post.
Actually, the jerk who felt it necessary to introduce long dead events to that thread, has been specifically excluded by the OP here. So this thread ain’t about that either.
Honestly-- UncleBeer I’m used to seeing fly off the deep end when his political leanings are challenged. For such a mostly nice guy, his knee-jerk conservatism makes him look a little like a raving looney.
WeirdDave and manny I’m surprised at. Oh sure, manny has had punch-out, nasty fights with people over many issues but, even though I don’t agree with him a third of the time, he’s always been at least on topic.
The referenced thread is just plain ugly and it was the three of them who made it ugly. They should be ashamed of themselves. So far in this thread, it doesn’t look like Beer or Dave mind the ugly.
