Jomo,
I’ve got to chime in and express my agreement with you sentiment. Women are great!
Like you, I go out of my way to deal with women. I hate to stereotype, but, in the healthcare profession especially, women will listen more and give you more of their time.
Women are also easier to talk to, in my opinion, so long as she’s not one of those who just looks at you and depends on you to keep the conversation going.
Women are more sincere, more honest, more thoughtful and considerate, and generally better at doing the social things in life–planning parties, organizing the kids’ activities, running the household, etc., really anything that doesn’t require brute strength or obstinate persistance or getting especially dirty, smelly, or scraped up.
But back to my favorite subject–
My doctor is a woman
my shrink is a woman
my dentist is a woman
my best friend is a woman
I’d list my wife, too, but right now we’re on the splits, so I can’t currently count her among my coterie of female associates. (Hopefully that will change in the near future.)
As a woman, I thank you wonderful men for your obvious discernment and class. I think I must hang with the wrong circle of women, tho - so many of them are man-bashers. I happen to like men - in fact, I’d rather have a man for a friend than a woman. Just about all of my on-line friends are men, including my bestest, who I hope to meet IRL someday.
How the holy hoo-hah did you intercept the email I mentioned in my first post? Your eloquent praise of women’s physical beauty, social charms, the grace and music in their movements and laughter, etc., was precisely what I had written to my friend!
You and I have never met, sir, but I think we would hit it off famously. At least, we’re on the same wavelength as far as half the human population is concerned.
And to all the women who responded with thanks in this thread, yes, we mean you. You, the women of the Straight Dope, are paragons of the virtues enumerated herein.
Cartooniverse , can I steal some of your lines and send them to MY girl? Ok, maybe not. But WOW! Those same feelings I’m constantly trying to convey to her, although perhaps not as eloquently as you. Her smell, her skin, her smile (especially her smile!) - all make me feel electric.
Hooray for women! Ok, now I feel compelled to stop by the flower shop on the way home tonight…
