I liked Finding Neverland and About a Boy

So, what else would I like? Why did I like them? They seemed intelligent, unique, and they’re not tear jerkers.

Yeah, I know about High Fidelity. It is getting another chance.

I spend most of my time these days watching Star Trek and The West Wing on DVD.

May I be the first to say that I ithought this was going to be a Michael Jackson thread, based on the thread title…

Maybe a Wes Anderson flick if you haven’t seen any yet. (Royal Tenenbaums, Life Aquatic, Rushmore, et al)

Notting Hill
Last Action Hero

Big Fish is a good one. In fact, my first impression of Finding Neverland was that it reminded me of Big Fish.

Dutch is probably the most underrated, underappreciated comedy that John Hughes ever made.

For something a little more poignant, check out The Man Without a Face.

There’s been both a British and an American adaptation of Fever Pitch, another book by Nick Hornby who wrote About A Boy and High Fidelity. I haven’t seen either, but the book has a very similar sort of feel to it. I’ve heard his stuff described as chick-lit/-flicks for men.

The English Fever Pitch is very good but has nothing to do with the book which isn’t a novel but a series of essays about Hornby’s life and obsession with Arsenal football club.

Huh. I was sure I’d read the book, but that doesn’t sound familiar at all. Guess not.
